I am 6 months post op RNY and have noticed when I seem to stall if I increase my calories a bit, I will then go back to losing. I typically am at between 600 - 750 calories/day with carbs under 50gm/day. Protein is at about 100 gms/day and I meet fluid requirements. I exercise daily (ride a recumbent bike for 30 - 45 minutes - (old knee fracture that didn't heal correctly) .I know everyone is different but should I be at a consistently higher calorie range now? I am 5'3" tall and my weight is now 167.8 - started out at 257.0. Thanks.

That's about the calories range I ate at 6 months. It was fine, I didn't seem to want more than that. I didn't get close to 1000 calories until 9-10 months. My doctor told me not to concentrate on calories just protein and volume but I use My Fitness Pal and of course, it gives a calorie count.

You will continue to lose if you keep on like you are. Stalls happen, your body adjusts, weight fluctuates from water, etc. but you will lose.

Keep up the good work!

This loosing game is such a mystery...I loose very slowly and at about 6 months...slowed to a crawl...I increased my calories from about 700 to about 950 and bam...started loosing again ( slowly but at least loosing).  Now at 8/9 months I have hit a stall again...tried lowering carbs ( they had crept up from about 50 to 80 through mostly dairy products)...nothing.  My calories had slipped to 750-800 again  so I think I am going to increase calories to 1000 ( if I can:( ) and see if I can get down a little more....

There seems to be no consistency to how and when and why people loose weight...as long as you stay on the straight and narrow ( and you are obviously doing that), you will loose the weight...but it is frustrating, boring and as I said mysterious !

good luck!

I am just over five feet as well but my high weight was a bit lower than yours at 217 but I kept my calories to 750-900 from months 6-12 and am down to 125 now (at a year out) with ten more pounds or so to go to my own personal goal. I wouldn't increase my calories yet if it was me. When i was at six months I thought I would be super lucky to get down to the 150 my surgeon wanted and the 140 my PCP wanted seemed crazy at first but I have blown by both of those now by sticking to the program and not increasing my calories or carbs. I am now down to what I weighed 20 years ago and might even make it down to the 115 I weighed as a teenager which just boggles my mind. My point to all that was that I remember getting down to the range where u are now thinking that if I got much thinner that I would look strange or sickly and I was shocked that at 125 I just look normal and healthy. I even remember posting at about the same stage as you are about phasing into maintance, but your body will stop where it's comfortable so I would just keep working the program as u are now and you'll be wonderfully surprised at how far you'll make it.

You got this
