Should I tell my boyfriend?
Before my surgery I was single. I've lost a lot of weight-72 pounds- and now my self confidence is at an all time high and I'm ready to find a boyfriend. Now after the surgey, (3 months out)I've met a guy that I really like. I tell him I'm at the gym. He doesn't know that I've have gastric bypass surgery. Should I tell him that I had the surgery? What if he decides that he doesn't want to be with me after I tell him?
I don't think it's a big deal to tell him. If he doesn't want to stick around then you don't want him anyway. If they love you, then they love you for better or worse, at your best and at your very worst. I bet he's got things in his past too... He'll appreciate that you told him and that you're doing things to better yourself.
Even if you don't tell him, he'll figure out something is "up", due to your portion sizes, lol.
If he has a negative reaction when you tell him that you've done this wonderful thing to change your life....then he doesn't need to be in your life!
Based on my personal experiance:
If you make a big deal about it ~ they make big deal about it.
If you make it more of nonchalant kind of comment about it..."it's Not a really big deal..but i thought you may notice i don't eat a lot, and don't eat desserts..or pasta.."
We seems to be obsesed with ourselves and our WLS ....
if he had problem with this, means he is uneducated and narrow-minded , so really you don't want to date a person like that even if they are cute.

Would you tell him if you'd had a different type of surgery in the past, like your gall bladder removed or a knee replacement? What if he didn't want to be with you after you told him you'd had your gall bladder removed or surgery on your knee?
Yeah, I'd tell him. If you don't trust him enough to tell him that you had gastric bypass, well, do you want to be in a relationship with someone you don't trust?

I'll add that I've told people I've dated when it came up. One guy asked about the scar on my stomach - one of my RNY scars is still noticeable, the others aren't. Another guy I told when explaining why eat small meals frequently.

You don't owe anyone an explanation about your medical history unless it is likely to affect them. I personally wouldn't tell him unless I felt I knew him enough to discuss my pap smear or colonoscopy!
Like Hala said, I think we are all a lot more obsessed about this than other people and chances are, he won't care and if he does ... next!

Eventually if you guys stay together long enough, it will probably come up naturally in conversation. Is it first date discussion material? I don't know... depends on the guy and on you and how open your communication is.
On the other hand, I put the info right in my online dating profile and I've been with the same guy I met on that site for more than three years now (at my biggest and at my smallest), so obviously he didn't care.
