I do have a question, I am 2 years out and I am up 15 lbs, I have lost 5 but I log my food everyday on lose it, why is it so hard for us to lose weight after RNY when I have friends on WW who eat more cals than I do. Is there a scientific reason? I get that the honey moon phase is the easiest but what changes, we are still eating low cal low carb when we are logging and "on program. is there something that physically happens to us? Also if you pretended you never had rny and went on WW and followed it to a tee, would we lose weight, my cals and carbs are way lower than when I was on WW and I avoid fruit like the plague. Thanks

I had RNY because i felt that no matter how well i did on my diet i could not lose the weight. I was messed up before RNY. And still i am today.

My tool helps me lose. But i have to be very strict. Also -too many proteins hinder my weight loss. On 70-80 gr of proteins a day, 20-30 carbs, 70-80 fats (good real food) i can lose...But too many highly processed proteins (i.e protein shakes) make me stall or gain

Google "food insuline index"

The people you know on WW might have a better metabolism.

Not only might they have a better metabolism that you started with, but there is evidence that some people experience a small permanent drop in their metabolism as a result of the drastically reduced caloric intake for many months after the WLS (just as many of us messed up our metabolism with years of yo-yo dieting).

low carbs are terrible for your health.  My bariatric certified nutritionist sent me this article.

I think many of us post regularly that not all carbs are created equal - hence the advice to eat protein first and veggies next followed by a complex carb if needed.   For most of us, the protein and veg are sufficient for satiety.

This is a low carb diet, and is in no way bad for your health.   Cutting processed and white carbs out of your diet will do you no health harm at all!

The article clearly states this.

Not sure why this blogger should know better that so many others... Not sure where did she discovered "that we need at least 100gr of carbohydrates per day".. I would like to see the link From scientific studies.

Brain also can use and live on ketons...

BS in my book...  nutritionist really means nothing. I am nutritionist and i say low carb diet is great.

Regulation of the title "nutritionist"[edit]

Some confuse the terms "dietitian" and "nutritionist," and this tends to be erroneous.[1] However in many countries and jurisdictions, the title "nutritionist" is not subject to professional regulation; any person may call themselves a nutrition expert even if they are wholly self-taught.[2] In most US states, parts of Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom, the term nutritionist is not legally protected, whereas the title of dietitian can be used only by those who have met specified professional requirements.
