Excited by potential Kaiser lawsuit

I am glad society and the law is thinking about this situation.

I have lost around 140+ lbs.  For the most part, I have "snapped back."  The only issues I have are: 1) A cup boobs (which doesn't bother me) and 2) wrinkly/saggy thighs.  Seriously, they look like belong on a 70 year old and not a 38 year old.

I have taken up figure skating again to try to help with the sagging (i.e. build up muscle underneath the sagging skin structure AND increase blood flow to the thigh area in general).

I have been at it for about 2 + month and the improvement I have seen is either minimal or non-existent.

I also have terrible terrible scars from boils/cysts that regularly erupted in that area.

I am proud of my body, my surgery, and the work I put into maintaining my weight loss everyday.  However the thought of shorts and a bathing suit this summer have me cringing!

Even if a PORTION of a thigh lift were covered..I would do it.

However it is hard for me to justify 17K for a LBL at this time.  That may change once I get out of debt, but right now, I just cant swing it.

Are you saying that maybe they will add bariatric cosmetic surgery? Keep us informed. I have Kaiser and was told that it is not covered. Can't afford mega buck for thighs, torso and boobs reconstruction... just using Spanx and two padded bras.

There was a thread about this recently. From what I saw it concerned a California state law, and so would be limited to California only -- if they win.

There could be a huge downside. Many plans have dropped WLS because of the expense. If they were forced to cover plastics as well, many more would drop it altogether. It's better to have surgery covered without plastics, than not covered at all.

I agree with this sentiment so much.  There are so many people who would benefit from this life-saving surgery -- only to be refused because their insurance doesn't cover it.  As much as I would love to have plastic surgery paid for by insurance -- I would gladly sacrifice that possibility to make more people eligible to get life saving WLS.  Sure, my thighs and upper arms suck -- but they aren't a matter of mortality or longevity.

You have a point. Ugh. I hate that.

But how can I deny someone else something that has given me so much happiness!?!?!?
