You have a headache and you are hungry because you are detoxing the carbs.

You need to stay on plan or you can risk your surgery being called off.

It will get much better by day 4, but you will have to white knuckle it until then. I know it's hard, but don't cheat. You are worth more than that. Good luck.  This is just a tiny blip on what will be an amazing journey.

Honestly,  the first three days were horrible.  On the 4th day the headache went away and I felt great.  Just hang tough, it's only for a bit and the payoff is HUGE.

Make sure you are drinking at least 64 fluid oz a day (preferably lots more) of non-caffeinated liquids.  Water is the best of them all.  Even mild dehydration can cause a headache!

Hang in there.  The pre op diet is VERY VERY difficult.  But you will be glad you followed it when your surgery goes smoothly!

I'm on day 5 of my pre-op diet and it has gotten better.  Not too much hunger, but the 1st day I was nauseated and had an awful headache.  My plan is 4 shakes a day, clear liquids and up to 2 cups of low carb veggies.  For lunch & dinner I've been having "soup" - low fat/low sodium broth with a cup of veggies.  If you are allowed this, it has really helped me.  I feel like I am at least eating something.  I am determined not to stray because I am determined to be in the best shape possible for the surgery.  Good news is I'm already down 5 pounds since starting the pre-op diet.   My energy level has been low, but I guess that's to be expected.  Hang in there!

Hi there, I'm day 5 of pre op diet. I'm on optifast, 4 shakes a day. Last night and this morning when I had my shake I was so full 3/4 of the way through. I've also lost 6lbs. You'll feel better really soon. We're almost there.

Don't cheat!   It's not worth it!   Stay strong and remember the reward at the end ;)
