What is on your Memorial Day Menu RNYers?

I know it is a Holiday...but I still need a post. Raining here, hopefully it will stop.

QOTD:

Any BBQs happening? What is your safe 'go to' to eat or bring to BBQs? Someone suggested to me to bring one of those shrimp rings to parties. Nobody thinks shrimp is a bad idea and it is a safe protein for us.

B: Tea, frappachino-ish protein drink

S: greek yogurt

L: BBQ at neighbors. Meat, salad or cole slaw maybe

D: tuna on cucumber rounds

S: ? probably not.

Ex: laying off for today, post surgery.

Good morning! Thanks for starting the post today, and I hope the weather clears in time for your BBQ.

QOTD: haven't been to any bbqs since RNY, but for potlucks and parties I usually take smoked salmon, store-bought sushi, or extra beverages. Shrimp is a great idea.

CAMAW Critter results - weighed in Saturday morning after 5 full days of CAMAW Critters. I was down a total of 1.8 lbs, which is a pretty good loss as I'm almost 2 years post-surgery. I miss fresh produce too much to follow CAMAW Critter all the time, so I will try one week on and one week off for the month of June to see how that works. Even if I don't lose much more weight, the switch-out keeps things interesting.

B: rotisserie chicken

L: salmon and asparagus

D: FF ham w Dijon mustard

S: yogurt, chicken nibblers, apple

So I was feeling very discouraged with CAMAW week,as I had a few indiscretions, and my weight was just fluctuating and I wasn't losing the gain from last week's wedding. All of a sudden this weekend I lost. and hit a new low this morning. So I am claiming CAMAW success as well...just had a delayed response...you know how the scale can be fickle.

Good to hear you're at a new low, even if you had to wait a while to see it. I agree - the scale can be a trickster. For all I know, the 1.8 lbs I lost could be mostly water-weight and by tomorrow I'll be up 1.5 lbs (that's why I went back to weighing in once a week). But any loss is encouraging, even if it doesn't stay. Whatever.  :)

I weigh everyday, that is part of my accountability to me. I only record it once a week. I have for the most part detached from the emotional attachment to the daily number... it is a tool, like any other tool we use. If I see it going in the wrong direction , I reevaluate what is happening, what am I doing? It works.

Once I reach goal, I hope to be able to use the daily weigh in as an effective tool. I did weigh daily for a few months, and found it difficult to detach from the daily fluctuations. I would wake up at night trying to figure out why the scale was up 2 lbs even though my eating was consistent. About 3 months ago I decided that daily weighing just made me anxious, and went back to the weekly. It seems to address the accountability issue, is enough to show if the trend is up, down or stable, and it doesn't make me obsess. At present, this is what works for me - who knows what will work in the future?

I think it's funny that we tell each other, 'I'm so glad you've hit a new low'. Not something I'm used to telling my friends, lol.

We are all on the same journey, and (to me) each person's positive progress gives strength to the whole group. I truly appreciate the information, cameraderie and encouragement to be found in this forum, and look forward to reading  'What is on your menu RNYers?' every morning!  :)

Edited to add: Oops, totally missed the pun. Yes, new lows are a GOOD thing for us!
