Slow weight loss?

I am 4 weeks and one day post-op. I started at 223, and am now at 199.4. I have been feeling good about everything, but am just a little concerned that I am losing at a slow rate, and that I have been at a bit of a stall here in the last week. I am following the eating regiment -- high protein, low sugar, low carb, drinking my fluids and taking my vitamins. I'm not totally discouraged, just a little disappointed. I need some encouragement!

You consider 24lbs in a month slow? That is more than I lost in one month and I started out a lot heavier than you.

You may want to look at what your expectations for weight loss are, because losing 24lbs in a month is really, really, REALLY good.

Stalls happen,  stick with your plan and the loss will continue.

I agree w/Deanna. That is a crap-ton to lose in the first month. I think sometimes we think, eating so little, that we will wake up one day and 6 pounds will be gone. That's not realistic.  If you check out the general weight loss forums, Julie wrote an excellent thread about our expectations and such. I needed to hear it!

8 weeks out and down 19. It takes time. It can feel frustrating to undergo weight loss surgery and think the weight will just fall of several lbs a day or week.... We have to reconcile the fact that we wouldn't be here if we could lose 20 lbs just like that with out the surgery. I went in with unrealistic expectations and it's tough to not see the scale move like we thought it was going to ..... Just try to get a better grip on actually how hard and long we would have had to work to get 20 lbs gone.

Your weight loss is not slow, that's a great loss. Truly go to the general discussion board and read Julie's post ... I think the title is " no your not a failure " we obviously are not alone in getting real with our expectations .

Like they say in finding nemo " just keep swimming "

next year , what we lost week by week won't matter a bit

I lost 11 pounds my first week and then proceeded to have a 3 1/2 weeks stall. I never lost 24lbs in a month, and I've lost over 200lbs. You are doing amazing....

Look at this post whenever you feel like you're stalled or a slow loser.

You are doing really well, ease up on yourself & stay with it. The closer you are to goal the slower you lose, this is totally normal. You can do it!
