Ok... so im 11 weeks post op and been going to the gym 5-6 days a week since 6 weeks post op (very fierce routine) ;) ive went from 281 to 221 and my bmi has dropped 11 points!!! Im now considered obese and not morbid. Damn that feels good. I feel so good and if you see my other post ive had many ups and downs and regrets than happiness. Im sure we all have.. well obviously i know things dont happen over night im just wondering does everyone experience loose skin and does it ever go away without plastic and the extra work? Ive done alot of research but want to hear from the real people on this... do any of you not have loose skin? Its like the more i work out the more my arms, butt, and inner thighs ,and back just hang.. i didnt feel like id have such a big complex but its bothering me just as much as just being big. My arms are the worst! It would prop take 10 pounds off. Lol. I just want some hope i guess.... that maybe just maybe that can change without plasic surgery that i wont be able to afford. Dont get me wrong this is the best thing ive ever done and dont regret any of it... and i love working out now and eating better and more now that i almost 3 months out and already lost 60 pounds! Yay meeee!!! Havent got dumping syndrome one time!! Yayy mee again or got sick at all (im very careful though) just let me know how your process is going and any tips. Im down for anything.

I have loose skin but it does seem to be getting better. I am faithful about applying lotion and drinking my water (lots and lots of water). I think age may have something to do with how and how quickly skin retracts. The only skin that is currently "bothering me" is on my arms. But as I've looked around at other folks my age who have never been overweight, much less morbidly obese, I realize all of us older gals have bat wings. We also have some version of turkey neck. My abdomen was especially bad having multiple surgeries and three pregnancies in my life... there is a lot of scar tissue and stretch marks there. Now there is actually some firmness under the skin and it's not so baggy. In any case, my sags do seem to be getting better. Keep the skin hydrated both inside and out and it does seem to help. Toning those underlying muscles as you seem to be doing, also helps.

I went to a seminar for people who have had gastric bypass surgery given by a plastic surgeon. He said no amount of exercise will make a significant difference with regards to loose skin. He said bulking up muscle will help a bit filling in loose skin, so I'll continue to go to the gym three times a week. He said the amount of loose skin will be worse for older people (I'm 66) and people who have been obese the longest, but the amount of loose skin is mostly dependent on the resiliency of the skin, over which we have no control. He also said skin tightening creams are a waste of money.

I've been lucky so far. I'm down 86 pounds and don't have a problem with loose skin except a bit at my lower abdomen. Insurance won't pay unless there is a medically necessary reason, usually involving chronic skin rashes. Average cost for or tummy tuck or arms is $6,000-$8,000. Legs are more expensive. All in all, the seminar was all very discouraging.
