i am on purée food and I have no idea how much I should be eating at a time. I just had 1/3 cup of puréed chili. Is it to much?? My dietician never said how much to eat. I don't want to mess this up.

Hi Maddymoe, My Centre said 2oz at each meal which is a 1/4 cup of food.  You are 2 and bit weeks out of surgery, and you can't "feel" if you are full as your nerves have been cut. You won't feel "full" and you HAVE to rely on weighing and measuring this early out so that you don't overeat and irritate your pouch/stoma/nerves.  Do not go for the "full feeling." I know its hard as we were all used to eating huge portions pre surgery and 2oz looks like a joke, but trust me you just had major surgery, and you don't want to hurt something inside.

Stick to 2oz (1/4 cup) per meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner.  Eat by a clock, do not let more than 4 hours pass since the last food intake and don't chase the "fulll feeling" and any "hunger" you feel is head hunger and old habits trying to sneak back in.

This is a lot to take in early out.  Please join us on the menu thread, make some friends, ask questions if you need to we are all here to help.  As hard as it seems make sure you are getting a minimum of 64 oz (8 glasses) of liquids at minimum and make sure you are having bowel movements and if you are not get yourself some Miralax (US) or Restoralax (Canadian) and use it asap. It takes a few days to work and you don't want to get backed up!

PM if you have other questions.  Sorry to hear your Centre was lacking on the instructions, why am I am not surprised!

Good luck hope my info helps!

I agree DD. I had set a clock for my meals. I wasn't at all hungry and was forgetting to eat. I also made sure I weighed my food as well and still do.

I agree as well - I was told no more than 2 ounces (1/4 cup) while on the puréed diet.

The only thing I probably ate more than 2oz of in the beginning was yogurt-because it slides through. When I first I got to more solid food sometimes I couldn't even get 2oz in ..... as daisy said, don't overdue it...you can feel full at this point...
