I had surgery Tuesday and I came today. I am miserable. I'm stiff and sore. Any others experience this

Ah the magic of narcotics. Where's yours? I took pain pills for at least a week.

I sure didn't feel great after mine. Try to get up frequently and walk around for a few minutes, in addition to taking the pain meds. You'll need lots of rest and healing time. Take it easy; you'll feel better soon.

I was really really lucky I guess. I had surgery on Monday 3/13 came home on Tuesday 3/14, and did not need any pain pills after Thursday night (3/16) in fact I didn't even take any Thursday during the day. My surgeon did my RNY surgery and also took out my gallbladder, my surgery was laparoscopic though.

I hope you pain gets better quickly.

Yes, I had a rough time, especially my first week out. It hurt to move, walk, stand up, sit down, or reach for anything with my arms. Sitting somewhere low, like the toilet, was sheer torture to me. I wasn't used to sleeping on my back but sleeping on my side was out of the question. Every day got a little better. I wasn't able to take my full dosage of pain killers, only a half dose, so never really got a handle on the pain from the beginning. I carried around a travel pillow and held it against my tummy when I moved around, and it helped a lot.

Get lots of rest, walk a bit when you can, and try to get the gas out. Every day will get better. If you can, try to distract your mind so you won't notice the pain so much. I read and binge watched Supernatural on Netflix. I also bought some adult coloring books and colored for the first time since I was a kid. It all helped.

Good luck.

Kathy

Congrats on your surgery. Just remember that it is major surgery and your body has been through alot. Take your pain meds regularly, sip as many fluids as you can, walk and rest. It will pass and you will feel better in the coming days. Be good to yourself!

Different people have different tolerances to pain, there is no one way to "feel" after surgery. Talk with your surgeon or his staff if you are miserable and can't handle the pain. If you are sipping, walking, sipping, walking more then resting - it will get better. Hang in there!

When I came home, I felt like I had been in a knife fight for about three days. Don't be afraid to take pain meds. They are your friend at this point. Get as many fluids in you as possible, and keep moving! The pain and stiffness will go away before you know it!!!

Thanks everyone. It's a bit better today. It is hard getting in all the protein. I know it will get better...just waiting on that. Lol
