NSV Alaska Style

I am near my two year mark and feeling great. I have been maintaining within a pound or two for about 8 months. I aim for 75g protein, 75g carbs, and 1200 calories each day. I usually am a little high on carbs and a little low on protein and calories. Every day is a balancing act. Just when I start to feel fatigue from working my plan and eating many of the same things time and time again (how many types of Greek yogurt can I have, right?) something reminded me of how far I've come. I thought i would share with you all in case some of you also have gotten to that ho hum place.

I just got home from a trip to Alaska to teach and visit friends for a week. The last time we were up there was in 2014 before my WLS. The differences between these two trips were stark and really helped me get my head back in the game! In stead of being the last person struggling up the trail, this trip I couldn't get everyone else in my group to walk fast enough. I was always trying to find another path, another shop, another whatever while my Guy and our friends were hanging back looking tired. I can't believe the energy difference!

The airplane seat-belt experience was awesome. In 2014 I almost asked for an extender because I was pinched in with the seat belt at max length. This time I had at least 20 inches of belt dangling over. Hiking up an unmarked trail on the side of an embankment because "I think I hear a stream! I wanna go see." I am so grateful for my RNY!! The only draw back... I was sooooo cold! 50 degrees felt like subzero. The Alaskans found my whimpers of "It is soooo cold! I'm freezing." amusing.

You are so cute!! But then you already know I think that

So glad you had a good time! I didn't realize your old picture was from Alaska - the First Trip... I bet your friends barely recognized you when you got there!

I love that red tank! Perfect for Alaska!

You are cute too! The red and black tank I got on clearance at Wal-mart before I left. I decided it was my lumberjack shirt. LOL There were many folks up there who had only seen me in photos, not in person, since surgery. There were several, "Oh! That is you!" moments.

Thank you very much. I feel fantastic...especially when I think back to how exhausted I was that last trip. I remember my knees killing me, feeling so tired as we walked around, and even staying in the car for several stops because I was too tired to walk anymore. So grateful I didn't need to miss out on anything this time around!
