Has anyone tried Muscle Milk PRO? It doesn't look to be too different to Premiere Protein, but more carbs. The calories are probably about the same since the serving size is different. Thoughts on this product? I like the increase in protein.

Isn't there a limit to how much protein we can absorb in one shot?

Good to know! I'm new to this (surgery in Aug), and haven't done a lot of research on this yet. Between your comment and the others, sounds like Premiere Protein is still the better option. Thanks!

I actually prefer the premiere shakes. Taste-wise they're pretty similar but $$-wise it's premiere bought at Costco hands down

According to the ingredient lists, Premier Protein is whey protein isolate, and the Muscle Milk is milk protein isolate. Whey protein is absorbed by the body FAR better than milk protein is. (Check table 1 of this article for more info.)

So while the protein number may be higher on the Muscle Milk, it's probably less effective.

Interesting! I did not know that about the milk isolate vs the whey isolate.

Thanks for your supportive information!

Thanks for the article! I'm a science geek myself, but hadn't really done much research other than to look at the nutrition info. I definitely didn't know the difference with whey and milk protein. Thank you!

Glad to help! This is really helpful info to have in your reference library. I found it when I spotted protein "shots" at the vitamin store, like these. Turns out those are collagen, which has really low availability. Whey protein is the best to stick to if you can :)

What Peachpie said, our bodies can only absorb so much protein at a time.

Over 100 lbs lost! and 13 lbs below goal weight!
