How long after you eat do you wait to drink?

I have always heard that one should wait 30 minutes after eating to have anything to drink. Post surgery I am always careful to take note of the time when I am done eating and not have any beverages for that time. I do notice, though, that when I do drink that my stomach rumbles and I sometimes feel a bit bloated. Should I be waiting longer before I drink? How long do you wait?

Thanks!

Technically, 30 minutes. But since I'm forgetful, I often forget to even note the time for at least 15 minutes post eating. I'd easily say I average 45 minutes between last bite and first drink. If its a heavy meal, I will often wait longer.

The problem is that with maintenance my meals are larger than they had been, so I think I'm going to have to start waiting longer.

I wait at least 30, but usually more because I forget. And, like Peach said if its a heavy meal or I am particularly full I will wait longer.

I am a sort of newbie (5 months post op) but I was told to wait an hr before drinking. I even had to clarify this with nutritionist if it's one hr after the first bite or the last bite...the latter. So I put a timer and wait patiently.

When I started out I wasn't sure what exactly to do when it came to eating and drinking.

I always try to wait a hour after eating. I always try to drink something before eating so I am know I am actually hungry and not thirsty.

I usually do an hour, sometimes more if I'm still feeling super full.
