Happy New Year to all of you in OH Land, but particularly you my friends in the menu thread! It's cold here and I'm up early as usual, so I thought that I'd start us out for the new year.

I didn't make it very long last night but I did wake up with the neighbors put of fire crackers. I wished my wife Happy New Year, pet the cats and went back to sleep. Did you celebrate the new year? What are your plans for the day? We are going out for breakfast and then I am making filet mignon and crab cakes for our meals. I also would like to make a pot of Hoppin' John for Southern good luck. Other than that I am going to the pool for an hour's swim and may celebrate the new year with a nap.

QOTD: I'd like to suggest that we start the New Year with some thoughts of gratitude. What are you most grateful for in this new year? For me, while I am grateful for my weight loss, I am most grateful for the health and strength that came with the surgery. I feel like a new person and it will allow me to be much more active in 2018. I also have to say that I am grateful for you my OH friends and supporters. You make such a difference in my life.

Accountability: I had two bites of gingerbread and then gave the rest to my wife to eat. It was tasty, but I didn't need it.

Menu:

Breakfast: 1/2 waffle, turkey bacon, scrambled eggs

Morning Snack: protein shake

Lunch/Dinner: filet mignon, crab cakes, cauliflower, broccoli slaw

Snacks: 2 oz turkey breast, apple, almonds, blueberries

Exercise: 1 hour of swimming

Happy New Year! We were in bed by 11 last night. It is COLD here too (1 degree when I looked a few minutes ago).

QOTD: I am grateful for retirement and also for all the good people providing support and musings on OH. Who would have thought that on-line forums could make such a difference? I don't find anything remotely like this on FB: Always people asking the same questions and often getting bad answers. It makes me crazy!

1 year, 9 months post-op

B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: Tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese

D: Leftover scallops from last nights dinner

S: almonds (a natural laxative for me, needed today!)

Facebook groups make me crazy most of the time! The exception would be the BariatricEating 101. They really push inspire products but other than that they have a pretty good no-nonsense approach and they share lots of great recipes.

RNY Jan 12, 2017 Lost 137 lbs but regained 60.

Losing the regain! I got this!

Still feeling achy and puny from the flu today. I was in bed before 10 last night because I'm just wiped out. I feel a bit better today--I actually got up and put real clothes on,but I'll still be taking it easy today. QOTD I am so grateful for my surgery and for each and every one of you. When I had my surgery,I didn't know a soul who had had it. This online community has been a huge key to my success and the friendship and accountability I find here helps me each day to make the hard choices that keep my obesity at bay. Since my surgery my success has led 4 friends to make their own decisions to have WLS too. I've always been honest about my surgery to everyone--yes even strangers--because I can't stand the idea that another person thinks if they ate less or worked out more they could lose weight too. Accountability was easy as all I had was broth and liquids yesterday. Post op 5 years 4 months and weight down at 117.8. Not sure if I'll feel up to any exercise today and it's far to cold to walk outside with Lily. Heres the food plan B1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 3/4 c chicken broth D either 3/4 c chicken broth or if up to it 31/2 oz oven baked chicken thigh. We shall see how I feel by that point. Have a great day everyone and make smart and consciius choices that move you closer to your goals!

Happy New Year, everyone! I can't believe that after 7 days I am still pretty well knocked out by this stupid cold. I didn't make it to midnight and I am still dragging. How am I going to make it back to work tomorrow? Ack--I don't know!

QOTD: So many things... I have a supportive and loving family, a wonderful boyfriend, and an incredible job. And I have my health (aside from he stupid cold) which affords me all the wonderful things this world can offer. I am active and strong and able to meet challenges. And of course, I am grateful to all of you, as well :)

I am really committing to a New Year-New Me set of goals. Today is day one.
