Morning! I'm back from my trip and slowly getting back on plan!

Hope every one had a great holiday! The weather is pretty intense here these days. How is it where you are? We're at the farm for a final Christmas get together, and originally I planned to bring my snow shoes....nope. Nope. Nope.

accountability: good. I spent the week slowly dropping my carbs. Next week, I'll be going very low carb to get to scale moving again!

qotd: what's a good habit that you have post op, that seems to be rubbing off on those around you? I've noticed my husband is really eating fewer simple carbs, and rarely has second servings.

Menu:

B: coffee and premier

L: we had raclette last night, so leftovers I think

D: Tbd. My mom made lasagna, so the cheese off a slice and then some kind of meat!

have a good one!

I got out on my snowshoes on Thursday night - after dark. Why you ask? Because Thursday the high was 20 degrees and it was the only day like that in weeks. So, since I had to work it had to be after dark. We didn't go very far, only about 3/4 of a mile but it was nice!

Yes! Thursday was the only evening the dog had anything resembling a decent walk! He was bounding in the snow! It was short lived.

Good morning weekenders! Welcome back FB! I hope that your travels were good.

It's definitely cold here but the wind is down to about 10 mph from 30-40. Next week is supposed to be warmer or at least more seasonal and that will be nice.

Accountability: last night we ordered in and my wife had ribs. I love ribs, but can only eat a little bit at a time so she shared one rib and I savored it.

QOTD: for a while after surgery, my wife was really limiting her carbs and eating smaller portions, but she has crept back to eating more junk again.

Menu:

Breakfast: hard boiled egg, 2 oz ham, 1/2 cup plain oatmeal

Snack: protein shake

Lunch: TJ's chicken sausages, baby carrots

Snack: string cheese

Dinner: pork chops, cauliflower

Exercise: If the pool is open, I want to do an hour of swimming and maybe some Aqua Zumba if that isn't canceled.

Is it hard for you to have your wife's junk food around? My DH typically has cookies around which I get into periodically (but wouldn't miss if they weren't here).

Thank you everyone for the safe travel messages. They worked because we made it to Florida on-time yesterday, which I thought was highly unlikely to happen. And yes, our town on Cape Cod is very picturesque. The one here in Florida isn't so much, but our park is pretty (lots of live oaks) and there are lots of pretty places on the ocean or canals that we can drive to easily.

QOTD: I'm not sure my good eating habits (or other post-WLS routines) have rubbed off on anyone. DH always had good eating habits (as opposed to me), and there isn't anyone else around most of the time. Even though DS lives at home, he is almost always at the restaurant at meal time.

1 year, 9 months post-op

B: eggbeaters, cottage cheese and Canadian bacon

L: tuna salad, pickles and cottage cheese

D: crack slaw

S: Halo top ice cream (was 2 for 1 at the store yesterday)

Crack slaw is basically chopped cooked hamburger with cooked coleslaw mix (or chopped cabbage) and spices. There are lots of recipes online. I make mine with hamburger and coleslaw mix out of the bag, rice vinegar, some lite soy sauce and a bunch of spices (whatever strikes me as interesting at the time).

Good morning peeps! It's a whopping -2 degrees right now so no walk for us yet. This afternoon it's supposed to get up to 19 so if it does Lily and I will do our best to get 2 miles in. We will at least go around the block and I will get a total of 4 miles in somewhere. Temps are supposed to be much better--40 to 50--next week so we WILL get back to our routine. Accountability was good yesterday with no off plan bites. QOTD I don't think anyone's eating has changed but my youngest son who lives with us is more physically active now than he used to be and has lost weight since he graduated college. All the sweets are still here though and the bane of my existence. They call my name everyday but I choose to ignore them. I even stay away from the "diet" sweets like Halo Top because it heads me right toward the good stuff. Even protein bars used frequently cause me to have cravings for sweets too. Almost 51/2 years out and that sugar addiction is still there so I suspect it's there for life. I just tamp the urge down every single day--one choice at a time. Post op 5 years 4.25 months and weight at 117.4 today. Food still yuck to me but heres the plan B 1/2 c steel cut oats with protein and peanut butter added L 31/2 oz deli turkey and cheese roll ups D 3/4c chili with cheese S sm apple with 1 T peanut butter. Have a great day everyone and make those choices that keep you headed toward your goals. You deserve it!
