Hi everyone,

Newbie to obesityhelp, I just had surgury January 8th 2018.

I am on a full fluid diet(cream soups, apple sauces etc.).

I just have a quick question, it' kind of tmi but I need to ask so sorry in advance

I am 8 days post op and only had one small poop, should I be pooping more? If so is there something I can take to help keep me frequent? I'm on a stool softener and previcid(ulcers). Maybe benefibre or restrolax?

Any help would be appreciated, thank you

Becca

Hi Becca! Congrats on your surgery! Right now your body is still in a state of shock, and your complaint is very common, post-op. Many folks here use Miralax. It's a pretty gentle remedy, yet effective. It may take a couple of days for you to see results. Also, and this is very important, make sure you are doing your best to sip, sip, sip!

btw - Restoralax (Canada) and Miralax (US) are the same thing. I agree with the others - a lot of us use that.

Any time you have surgery your bowels will slow, mostly due to the meds and trauma your body went through, plus your not taking in a lot of substance make sure you are drinking plenty of water, walking, taking your stool softeners. I still only go once every few days. My doctor recommended miralax as needed

I took Dulcolax plus the stool softener, but lots of people use Miralax. Just remember that you need to drink as many fluids as you can. Warm herbal tea helped me alot. Also any walking that you can do will help things to move. Congrats on your surgery!
