So I get to start the pureed stage on Wednesday. Although the full liquid diet has not been bad, I cannot wait to get my mitts on mush. Im really excited to try the ricotta bake but heres my conundrum, on the pureed stage do you have to blend it up after its been baked or is it good to go as is? It seems like all the ingredients are pretty mushy to start with but does it bake to be too solid? Am I being to anal over something thats overly obvious, if so than Im asking for a friend LOL. Thanks for your help

I felt like it was soft enough as is, BUT I wasn't required to do purée, just soft proteins and could "progress as tolerated." (Just meat and dairy though, no veggies or fruit yet)

I have been in the puree stage for almost two weeks and I made it for my first meal beyond refried beans...I didn't puree it, it's pretty mushy and eggface answered someone's question as to whether it has to be puréed after with a no. Side note I added a teaspoon of extra pasta sauce on top whenever I had a new piece that I warmed in the microwave. I found after the first night when it was bubbly and lovely that I liked the taste better with a little more sauce as it had kind of absorbed the sauce over the days. Happy pureeing!

Good answers, I just wanted to reinforce that it was not a silly question.

You are at the very beginning and you need to protect your pouch right now. You need to eat the portion size recommended by your surgeon and then stop, make sure every bite is very well chewed, etc. There are so many posts by people who are "testing the boundaries" and right now is the time to be so careful and follow the rules.

So, good for you for asking!

I'm just out of puree and moving into soft, the Ricotta bake was super yummy when fresh, and reheats well, I agree that it's better with a bit more pasta sauce on top.

You'll learn yourself what works and what doesn't, I made Shepherds Pie and got some grief from others about the 2 Tblsp of mashed potatoes on top, but I had no trouble with the beef and it felt great to eat something normal.

I tried pureed chicken and it just didn't work for my pouch, but I had 3 oz of shredded chicken breast w/gravy for dinner last night and it was fine.

If you like fish, I got the Highliner cod filets with garlic and herbs a great source of protein and baked in the over in parchment paper envelope was nice and soft an super tasty, it feels a little weird to just have protein for dinner, but you get used to it.

I'm pushing towards getting all my protein from food because I've hated almost all the protein drinks.

I never blended anything. Chopped finely and as long as it's moist... good to go. Ricotta bake personally eat as is.
