Beach/Lake Friendly Snacks?

Before RNY I could sit on the beach, in and out of the sun, all day - with little flluids and whatever I felt like eating. Now that my body must be tethered to a cool drink at every minute of every hour and I MUST have my protein throughout the day, how do you pack and/or prepare to spend a day at the beach, pool or lake?

I want to remain successful and stay on plan even when my life has been upgraded to a day at the beach or pool side! What are your favorite beach meals/snack ideas?

Have a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend, all!

My obstacles are moving out of my way; my path is carved towards greatness

You'll love it, but know where the bathrooms are (close by)! We're 5 minutes from the beach and last summer (first summer after surgery) I learned to freeze bottles of water to take. Take individual flavor packs (the Propel work best for me when I need flavored water) to change up the flavors. The frozen bottles also keep your protein drinks cold (but keep check on the bottles to make sure they're all around the protein drinks). If you like lemonade, go ahead and mix up a lemonade packet in bottled water and freeze it. Frozen icee lemonade is refreshing!! Nuts don't change their texture and stay fresh in baggies. Protein packs are quick and easy....just keep them cold. I know pretzels aren't the best for us, but I do take Gourmet pretzels, and individual peanut butter packs with us just as an additional snack that keeps well outside, as well as carrots and cucumber slices....just keep them cold. Have fun!!

Cooler - freeze a few of your water bottles, I like to pack: nuts, jerky, slim jims, cheeze sticks, I really like the fiorucci line of salami and mozzerella roll ups or prosciutto and mozzerella. Hard boiled eggs are another easy to pack high protein item.

I love cheese crisps for a snack. You can buy them commercially as Moon Cheese or ParmCrisps or something like that, or you can make them http://insidekarenskitchen.com/baked-cheese-crisps/ I also love salami and prosciutto. We have a cooler with wheels made for the beach that makes it easy to take plenty of cold drinks. Have fun!

Jerky and nuts are my go-to on trips where I don't want to have to worry about keeping something cold.
