Topic: RE: No more weight loss after 6 months?

I did! I'd like to lose about 27more lbs. Im 2 yrs out and this tool has helped me not regain what I've lost so I am still grateful.

Topic: RE: To former bandsters: do you still ignore your full signals?
In my experience, one bite too many will have such negative consequences that you'll be more conscious of it the next time.  Unlike with the band, where I was able to throw up and feel some relief, I haven't been able to throw up with RNY and I heave until I feel like my head is gonna explode.  Now if that's now behavior modification, I don't know what is.  I've only done that once and it wasn't because of overeating, it was after working out!  Think of it this way, you have gotten a 2nd chance that many people are unable to receive.  There's no way I would want to go through a 3rd surgery because I have failed to make the necessary adjustments required for this lifestyle.  I'm not perfect, but you have to use common sense.  Overeating is what got you to the point of needing surgery in the first place, so why even go there again?  I do agree with a previous poster that maybe you should talk to a professional about why you self sabotage.  RNY works...if you work it! You can do it.  Think positively going forward and not about what happened in the past.
Topic: RE: Are we only pretending? -RNYers (sorta long winded)
I thought your post was awesomely hilarious and I understand 100% where you're coming from.  Our surgery dates and weights are similar and if your ticker is accurate, it seems like we've lost about the same.  Hang in there, and thanks for the laugh this evening.
Topic: RE: Size 6 :) pics (6 months after surgery)
You look great.  Do you exercise or was it mostly diet?
Topic: RE: Muscle Milk
I drink Muscle Milk Light and have never had any problems.
Topic: RE: Candyaholic..help suggestions?
Me too! I was a big candy person before surgery and unfortunately, it doesn't make me sick post op.  If you find the answer, please let me know.
Topic: RE: Getting Nervous,...
It's very normal and necessary.  You should allow yourself the opportunity to answer some of those difficult questions: am i making the right choice, is this necessary for me at this time, is it worth the risk, etc.  RNY was my 2nd surgery and I was just as nervous, if not more the 2nd time around.  But I will tell u that Im so content with my weightloss and my decision at this very moment.  My first few months were very rough and I had regrets, you probably will too early out.  I recommend that u stay prayerful and stay connected to those u love and u will do fabulously!
Topic: RE: IsoNasty
All of it is nasty if you ask me, but you've gotta find a way to drink them.  I generally drink the Nectar shakes.  Right now, I mix in SF KoolAid with Roadside Lemonade or kiwi strawberry and that seems to be doable.  Today, I had a can of pure protein and this evening at the mall, I stopped into GNC and bought a choc Total Lean shake.  I just hold my breath and drink.  There are so many things that can go wrong for you if you don't get enough protein, so think of it as medicine...you have to take it to get well.  Good luck.

Topic: RE: My weight loss seems very slow..what's wrong
We are surgery buddies.  I've lost 40lbs since surgery.  I was considered a lightweight AND I revised from band to RNY.  I can honestly say that I follow the rules most of the time, but certainly not all of the time.  I've increased my exercise, but need serious work on increasing my protein.  I take my vitamins religiously, but could use more water.  So re-evaluate what you are doing and increase what needs to be increased and decreased what needs to be decreased.  I make an effort to do the same everyday, but it looks like you are doing well, in my opinion.
Topic: RE: Need to hear experiences from those *****vised from Lap band to Gastric Bypass
I was banded 10/06, lost about 40lbs and that was it.  I then started having trouble with reflux and never did find a "sweet spot."  Long story short, I revised to RNY on 1/4/11.  I had a difficult recovery due to the amount of scar tissue.  I think the longer you've had the band, the more scar tissue to deal with.  Anyway, I'm having an easier time with this surgery and really don't feel like I'm on a diet. HOWEVER, it's not without it's difficulties.  Most people don't dump so you can't count on that to keep you honest with this surgery.  Also, I get really bored with the amount of protein shakes, especially in the beginning.  I started losing a lot of hair with RNY, despite taking Biotin even before surgery.  You have to have your mind conditioned with RNY because you can overeat and feel absolutely awful afterwards.  Vitamins are a necessity for the rest of your life so you have to be prepared financially for the cost of vits and labs if your insurance doesn't cover them.  All in all, I've lost 40lbs in 3 months.  I was considered a lightweight AND and revision so sometimes that works against quick weight loss sometimes.  But I'm content with where I am and anticipate where I will be when I reach goal.
Topic: RE: Left side pain
Left side pain kept me in bed for a month after surgery. I really thought something was seriously wrong, but I've been ok since.  I hope your recovery doesnt take as long.
Topic: RE: Sugar Detox
Does anyone have any suggestions or tried and true ways to successfully detox from sugar? Cold turkey sounds great, but realistically, that's probably not going to happen.  I thought I had a handle on the sugar and also kind of hoped that I would dump a bit.  Well, that didn't happen so here I am, 3mo post op, and messing with sugar again.  I must admit that I cant eat it like before, but I do know that it is doing nothing to help my weight loss and I'd like to be at goal by August.
Topic: RE: What's your workout song?
Anything Taio Cruz, Black Eye Peas, Ke$ha, or Lady GaGa.  I set my Pandora app to one of those and I'm good to go!!

Topic: RE: HELP! 5 mos out and dumping ALL the time
Have you ruled out Reactive Hypoglycemia? Just a thought...and I hope you start feeling better soon.
Topic: RE: Had Lapband Surgery 4 yrs. ago, now disappointed.
Same here...band in 2006 lost from 247 down to 197 for like 1 day and it was uphill since.  I can say that the band helped me not gain as much weight with my last pregnancy as my pre-band babies, but in the end, I ended up weighing 243 on the day of my RNY in Jan. 2011.  Today, I am 208 and I feel pretty good most days. It's a personal choice to have a revision and I would suggest you do your research and pray for the best procedure for you.  RNY was enough for me so far.
Topic: RE: Advice needed re: not losing weight
I stalled at 3wks as well.  It didnt get much better until about week 6.  I think you will be ok, but I know that it's frustrating. Hang in there.
Topic: RE: Not loosing enough... :-(
I had surgery about a week before you. I was 243.6lbs the day of surgery and Im 212.5-213lbs today.  Not only was I considered a lightweight, but I was also a revision.  Im ok with where I am and I set a goal to lose 3lbs each week.  I work out 3-4/days wk and I take my vitamins.  I have gone through a few stalls which were very frustrating, but all a part of the process.  I'm determined not to give up on this because I don't plan on having a 3rd wls.  Hang in there and Im sure we will be at goal or close by summer.
Topic: RE: Constipation
The only thing that helped me was smooth move tea.  I believe it has senna in it.  I thought it was a bad idea after I'd taken it because it caused a lot of cramping, but it was definitely worth it.  I'm 8wks out and was amazed at how much I was retaining.  I think I will do it at least once a month because I can't imagine hauling around waste in my body for that long.  I think its the only thing that has gotten things moving and it worked within hours.
Topic: RE: 2 week Post Op - REGRETS everyday
Hi Tami,
To be honest, the only thing you can do at this point is...hang in there.  Im about 8wks out and I had a difficult recovery.  I think lots of people have the thoughts of regret or buyers remorse so soon out of surgery, but unless you have complications, it does get better.  I couldn't handle any of the milk based protein shakes, so I have practically lived on Nectar shakes.  They are not award winning, in my opinion, but they did and do the trick for now.  I wish you the best, and be thankful that you have the support of your husband.  My husband was home with me the first week and I felt the same, he really stepped up to the plate to take care of me.  Good luck!
Topic: RE: 5 Months Post RNY and want to start decorating cakes. SAY WHAT??
ME TOOOOOO!!!! I have taken the classes before and what I've found is that after so many, the smell of buttercream is gonna make you nauseous.  If you really want to do it, then go for it!! I'm a sugar person as well, so I know that it will be tempting, but after awhile, I think you'll be A-OK. Good luck!!
