Topic: RE: Protein?
This is what I am learning, you need to find plain whey protein powder and pour a scoop in a baggie.  As you eat applesauce or jello anything you can shake some in it is less yuck.  Also If you can hold down cottage cheese or yogurt it is also protein.  So look up a list of proteins and fine some items that are very high and eat them.  Cottage cheese has 11 grams of protein.  I also have chocolate and add peanut butter which has 9 grams of protein.  Be creative, you need to find some items that you like or you will never get enough protein.  A female needs 50-60 grams a day.  I hope this helps.  It has worked for me.
Topic: RE: 4 weeks out...Protein drinks???
I will try the website.  I think the reason I am not so creative with my shakes is that I am off to work and I want it simple.  I will give it a try though maybe on the weekend or evening.  I have to say that changing to organic soy milk fixed my problems no stomach issues.  How many weeks out did you try adding some pureed foods?? Cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, tuna........I tried a poached egg and it stayed down but now ready.
Topic: RE: TEACHERS...What/Did you tell your students?
I teach elementary age children in grades 3, 4, and 5.  It definitely is a personal decision.  As for the co-workers I told just a couple of my closer friends.  The others I just said that I was having some female surgery.  Since I am only 10 days I really don't want everyone watching me and scrutinizing everything I do.  Plus I don't really know what I am doing yet anyway so not sure what to say.  I have lost 20 pounds which is completely unbelievable for me.  Yippee!! I do think honesty is the best way to go but when you are dealing parents as well colleagues who knows what conversations they might have.  I did share it with my boss, I work in a year-round school.  So I was off for a week and a half.

Ok just tried the protein shake with soy milk, completely different and my stomach is great.  Can't believe how sensitive I am now with different foods.  Wow.

I am a teacher as well.  I go back to work tomorrow.  I am not going to tell the students anything about my surgery.  I will just say that I am exercising and learning to eat healthy.  Hopefully they will pick up some good tips.  What are your thoughts about eating at school and having what you need there? I am still trying to figure out eating 6 times a day while not being very hungry.  Thoughts?
Topic: RE: Day 5 post-op
I am in day 10. I just started my vitamins and calcium. It has been a challenge for me to space everything out and get in what I need to.  I have the chews as well and they are great no problems.  I cough too and it feel like I have a broken rib. It is getting better though.  Hang in there.  Protein has been really hard for me too.  I try to have to 4 oz shakes but my stomach did not like the milk so I am trying soy tonight.  The whey powder is 38 grams which is great but I have to find the right formula that my body likes? Yogurt works just great! I take my vitamins when eating the yogurt.  I eat a little and then take my chewable vitamin and eat some more.  This has worked too.  My problem now is how to space out meals during the day and what to eat.  They say 6 times and I feel so full!! Any ideas??

It has been 10 days since my surgery.  I am now on full liquids which adds in my proteins. I use the whey powder from Walmart.  The problem I have is when I drink it with milk by stomach does not like it much.  I am going to try soy tonight and see how I handle that.  I can eat yogurt without any problems.  My doctor said I need at least 50 grams a day.  This has really been a challenge.  How long were you on just liquids??
