Very few of the people that were here back in 2004 will still be here, or remember me, but, 13 years ago I was 324 pounds and in sad shape at 40 years old. I resolved to do something and I did. I had RNY Gastric Bypass in November of 2004. In less than a year I was down 110 pounds and hoping for more at 5' 8". But, old bad habits crept in, and I slowly started putting it back on.

By August of 2014 I was back to 284 pounds. With the awesome support of my wife I saught a revision and had the surgery on the 9th of August.

I am down almost 20 pounds, one week later, and feeling good.

I've been through it before, and am doing it again. Maybe I can help some with any questions, and I am sure I will have a few of my own.

Thanks,

Jim

19 pounds is awesome! Congrats! What are you eating these days? I find myself getting bored with my options.

Thanks, I am encouraged, though hoping my revision is better than some have had.

I mainly eat protein shakes, soup with protein added and some hummus. I also drink lots of water.

My main concern is that I can eat or drink at larger amounts than I thought I would be able to, though still pretty small, 6 ounces or so.

I'm about a year and a half out from my revision and doing really well. I felt I was able to eat and drink more following the revision and asked my surgeon about it. He said that because I had been through surgery before with my sleeve, I was more aware of what to expect and not as fearful. That really does make a difference in how we eat and drink...the fear factor, immediately post surgery. In fact, he told me to eat and drink as I tolerated because I knew my body and I'd "been there before".

That worked for me and I've had no problems. I definitely am not able to eat the amounts I ate with the sleeve. I think that once you get into dense proteins, you will really feel the restriction.

Thanks for sharing your experience Barbara. I was hoping it was something like that. I have another week to go to move from liquids to mushy food. We'll see soon.

I have heard of those that didn't have tremendous success with their revision and that scares me. I am also surprised at how much I can get down. Maybe it's because we aren't eating solid food?

Just an update. I am feeling very good and now on the mushy diet. No issues at all, and glad I did it if only for the total lack of acid reflux!

Anyone considering this, it is much easier than the first time, and the recovery seems to be faster.
