Topic: RE: Self pay at Palmetto Baptist?

My friend had to do that method of paying to she had to pay the hospital their portion and then the doctor his portion as well she took out a loan to get what she needed. Well you do what you feel you need to you'll be in my prayers.

Topic: RE: Self pay at Palmetto Baptist?

I did call them.   You have to get separate quotes.   Some from the hospital and one from the physician.   They don't make it friendly at all for self pay as some doctors do.   In any event, I cannot  afford them so will having my surgery August 5th with Dr. Aceves in Mexico.   For aftercare, I will use my PCP or my gyno.

Topic: RE: Hypoglycemia after Gastric Bypass Surgery
Hi I get it on occasion but I carry glucose tablets and they work great for me. I have it usually after a high carb meal like potato soup, but sometimes I'm not sure what I ate that caused it. My dr isn't concerned but I've been reading more and more about how common this is after GB. I had RNY in 2005.

Have you called their office at the weight management clinic to ask about the cost? There are also loans you can take out as well if needs be my best friend had to take out a small bank loan to get her surgery! I'd be a bit leery about going to Mexico for surgery, I mean you do have to have follow ups for the rest of your life it is important to have a good doctor and close by but that's just my two cents.

Topic: Starting Back after back surgery
Has anyone had a severe setback after hurting themselves during their weight loss program? I've already gained 20lbs. and my surgery is tomorrow (4/9/13). I've been unable to exercise for about a month, and I'm not sure how long I'll be out of commission due to the surgery. Suffering in SC!!
Topic: RE: Recommend A Doc Please?
If you're looking for a great plastic surgeon that will support you, Dr. John Suber, MD in Greenville, SC, is the best in the state in my opinion. It's well worth the drive. He has a channel on YouTube (Straight Talk with Dr. Suber, Plastic Surgeon. He can fix you up once you've reached your goal. His YouTube vlogs are very informative!!
Topic: RE: Any suggestions on surgeons near ft mill sc

I live in Rock Hill SC and I went to Charlotte.  I used Dr Melkonian at Carolina Surgical.  I highly recommend them.  They have an office on Randolph Rd and one in Matthews.  The have support groups too.

Good Luck to her!

Topic: RE: SC State BCBS Insurance?

My Boyfriend & I inquired first about the new FDA approved diet pill, Qsymia.  We met all health requirements BUT found this out too.  That SC STATE covers NO weight loss help.  My boyfriend was searching further into bariatric surgery sounds more sensible & long-term safer effect.  If someone else or you has found or find out anything different, I welcome your help/ suggestions.  I find it hilarious we are in the "grease frying" state but the insurance won't help with lowering BMI.  I know we got here ourselves but not wanting to die young. THANKS!

I love Dr. Washington's group. I have been with them since December and my surgery date is April 29th. The process has been wonderful so far and I wouldn't change a thing other than the 3 week liquid diet!

Topic: RE: BCBS Florida & South Carolina Help!
I have bcbs of sc and they will not cover it. I asked them if they even offered a policy that covered it and they said no. So I'm going to Mexico and paying for it myself. Lots cheaper than here in states and doctors seem more experienced.
Topic: RE: Self pay at Palmetto Baptist?

I have actually been considering that.  However, what happens if I have surgery there and then complications when I get home?  That  is what scares me.  Who was your surgeon in Mexico?

Topic: RE: New...Anyone have Dr. Ross?

Dr. Ross is one of the best. I had him in January 3 years ago. I live in NC, but preferred to go to SC so I could have him be my suregon.

Topic: RE: Self pay at Palmetto Baptist?
Rather than doing a self pay in the states, I suggest you go to Mexico. I did. It cost less than a third of what you'd pay here. VERY pleased with the results.
Topic: RE: State of SC Insurance Study

After much research I was able to obtain the answer myself and am posting it here in case anyone else wondered.   They have extended the study through 2014.   They state that this does NOT mean that they will cover WLS after that time.  So, basically, wait for two more years and it MIGHT happen or might not.
