Post Date: 5/28/05 5:37 am Happy Saturday, all.....
Just popping in to say that I have lost 50# so far....woo-hoo! I am just a week shy of being 3 months post op.
If anyone out there thinks that "it can't happen for me"...let me assure you: it can!! I think many of us harbor a fear going into the surgery that we will be the ONE it won't work for...and we likely have good reasons for supporting that fear. In my case, I "reasoned" the following: my age was against me; and my LIFElong battle with my weight had surely messed up my metabolism so much that even though the surgery would work and I would lose some weight - it still wouldn't be a total success. Add to that, immediately after the surgery, I developed a stricture so for 3 weeks I wasn't able to keep ANYTHING down at all and that completely threw me out of whack.
Yet, in spite of all that....my weight loss has been steady and it continues. I am in clothes that haven't seen the light of day in years and I am buying a few new pieces to reward myself as these remarkable changes are taking place. I have a renewed twinkle in my eyes and I look forward each day to what awaits me. I have started going to the YMCA again (instead of just talking a walk around the block) because I know that strength training is also important.
All this is to say...take heart, it will work for you, too.
Hope to see those of you in the DFW area come to the dinner tonight.
Regards....Donna
