We eat out several times a week usually.  What restaurants have great choices for post ops?  I would like recommendations for places that are good protein choices?  I like delicious food and good service. So who has yummy grilled foods, low sugar, low fat? I don't care who honors the discount price card for bariatric patients.  I never use mine.  I didn't pay restaurants or buffets more when I could eat more so I wouldn't dare ask for a price cut since I eat less.  That is just my personal belief and I don't expect anyone else to feel that way.  I just take leftovers home. Thanks yall

Ann; I don't eat in many chain restaurants, but I've been eating out since 5 days post-op. Early favorites for me were tortilla soup, chicken noodle soup, chili and mashed potatoes (in a jam).  Once you get to the point where you can eat regular food again, most restaurants will make you a grilled chicken breast even if it's not on their regular menu. Grilled shrimp is another great choice.

Thanks.  What's your favorite place for soup?  Mine are Lucky's and Carrabbas.

Taco Cabana for tortilla soup - although I found out last week when I was sick that they only offer soup in the winter. McAlister's Deli for chili.

Yummy.  Thanks.  Texas Land & Cattle does add on also.

This is my first profile. I don't want to risk losing any of it by combining with the one I had to start in April 2007.

Hi Ann, Golden Corrall ( they will honor your restaurant card and they have a great variety ), FGI Fridays, Applebee's, Chilis, Cotton Patch Cafe....those are just a few off the top of my head.   Be real careful what you order though this early out.   Good luck to you. Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

Thanks.  There is a Chilis near Katy Trail walking path in my neighborhood.  Do you have a favorite dish there?

I usually eat from their childs menu.   I usually get their grilled chicken breast and steamed broccoli.   I sometimes get a cup of soup...their soups are really good and a cup will pretty much fill me up...when I get the childs menu....l always bring about half of it back home with me. Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian

After four years as a post op, I am aware of this.  I can usually find something to eat at most anywhere.  I was hoping to maybe discover a new place from the suggestions of other Texas post ops.

I'm a big fan of Ghengis Grill or BD's Mongolian BBQ.  You only put what you want in your bowl, so you can skip all the sugar and starch-laden items to get veggies and meat.  Jus****ch the sauces for hidden sugar. Worst case scenario, you can always sneak the soy off your table and pour it on. Hope that helps, Rachel
