Topic: RE: Happy Birthday Jill!!

I wish you a very happy birthday.  I also wish for you that every gift is in birthday paper instead of holiday paper.  My birthday was yesterday so I know what it feels like. Congrats on the upcoming plastics. Ann

Topic: RE: SOME PERSONAL THOUGHTS NOT TO OFFEND ANYONE

I am in the minority again.  I know the name of the site is Obesity Help but guess what I don't need a bit of help with getting or staying obese.  I love to cook and have catered and written cookbooks.  I would never post recipes using alcohol on the AA support site either.  I have read over and over how anyone should be able to say anything or post any recipe they want.  I just can't agree.   I think we have some responsibility as a part of the OH community.  I came here for years for information, guidance, support, experiences, and so much more.  I remember what it was like back in 2001, 2002, 2003.  I would not have felt like I found a community that was valuable to me if I saw high fat/high sugar recipes often.  I feel an obligation to remember that the site is here for the newbies as well as the veterans.  We all know there are ooey gooey yummy wicked wonderful treats in the world.  I don't need one more reminder when I come to a site for support to develop healthy habits and a healthy state of mind.  Share with me how you created food that was delicious and is supportive to my life as a post op or as someone working to let obesity be a part of my past...not my future. There are lots of wonderful recipe sharing sites that would welcome all you want to post.  I just hope you will think twice before posting any and all here on ObesityHelp.  I heard someone I respect say "just because you can.....doesn't mean you should".  I don't know most of you except by the words you post so please know that I am not directing my remarks to or about anyone.  I just felt like I had to speak up and share what was on my heart as I read through all the posts. Topic: RE: Dallas and/or national chain restaurant recommendations

After four years as a post op, I am aware of this.  I can usually find something to eat at most anywhere.  I was hoping to maybe discover a new place from the suggestions of other Texas post ops.

Thanks.  There is a Chilis near Katy Trail walking path in my neighborhood.  Do you have a favorite dish there?

Topic: Shawn of Harlingen

I am trying to locate Shawn from Harlingen now that I am back on OH.  Is anyone in touch with her? Those of you who went to the first OH conference in San Antonio back in 2003 might remember her.  She was a good friend to me back then.

Topic: RE: Surgery Question??

I wish you all the best. I will give you my honest answers. 1. What type of surgery did you have?..RNY 2. When did you have it?...March 7,2003 3. Are you happy with the type of procedure you had?....not really but it has more to do with the high turnover at BTC/Barix, I have not had a constant medical/surgical support. My follow up has been inconsistently and lacking. 4. If you could do it all over today knowing everything that you know now what would you change?..I would exercise like a maniac no matter what to maximize the weight loss. 5. Do you have any regrets? ....I regret falling off the exercise wagon when I got so discouraged when I did not make my goal at 2 years old. Lack of transportation and a case of depression kept me from keeping up my exercise plan. I deeply regret pulling away from support because I was ashamed and disappointed. Ann 423/300/?

Topic: RE: Work out Shoes - suggestions?

Hi Cheryl, I have a suggestion for you that might sound weird. The Curves shoe that you can buy from any AVON representative or on their website is awesome. I have been wearing them for almost three weeks. It provides the best support I have ever had. I too have a sensitive back. I know exactly how it feels to have my back throb with every step. It might be worth a try plus they won't cost you a bundle. I don't work for Avon so I am not getting a kickback for recommending the CURVES shoe. I just tried it on a lark since I have gone back to Curves with a vengence recently. I worked out early this morning and still have my shoes on since they feel so good and I had lots of errands to run today. Hope this helps, Ann

Topic: Birthday Angels

Imagine my surprise when I checked my mail this weekend and discovered several birthday cards from Texas Board folks. It was so nice to be thought of and remembered. Thank you for the kindness. With my birthday so close to Christmas (Dec 16th), I am used to having it forgotten. Even though I haven't reached my goal after 2 years and 9 months and tend to stay away from posting cause I am not a successful role model, I appreciate you thinking of me. Texas folks are the best!!! I wish you well and hope your holidays are extraordinary. Thanks from an old chick, Ann

Topic: RE: Profile hacked!!!

Greetings, I hope you won't let anyone keep you from getting all the support you can. I can attest that it makes a huge difference (no pun intended). You can always create a new id and password. Your input is much needed. Remember how awesome it was when you were pre-op or new to hear from successful veterans. Stay. I wish you the very best. Happy Thanksgiving Ann in TX

I was wondering the best way to get clothes to plus size survivors of the hurricane. I have some nice things for those wanting to interview for jobs. A lot of the folks who have come to Dallas have no homes or jobs to go back to. Ann
