Topic: Post Op Success with MERIDIA??

One of these days, I will look more carefully to make sure I am posting on the TX board instead of the main one. No telling what responses I will get to my post I meant for yall. Alas, here it is: Has anyone had recent success with Meridia as a post op? I am looking at the posibility of using this medication to assist me in losing weight. I have not lost weight in about five months despite exercise and eating correctly. I am about two years out. I have researched the risks but would like to know if other long-term post ops have had success with Meridia. My PCP wants to be as helpful to me as possible but not change my very healthy status. I have had my yearly physical, labwork (done every three months since wls), and two-year post op visit at Barix this week. My recent barium test of my pouch showed that it is fine so I would not qualify for a revision. I am incredibly healthy but still very fat with a super slow metabolism. I am going to change my calorie intake in addition to continuing my exercise regiment. I have gone back to tracking all my food intake also. We are hoping that the Meridia medication may assist me to be more successful. I know asking this question here opens me up to hearing every horror story about Meredia. I really don't need or want that. I need to know if other post ops have found Meredia to be useful and in what way. Feel free to email me directly if you would rather not respond here. (AE_Brown@hotmail.com) Thanks, Ann 423/414/265/150 March 7, 2003 BTC-Wylie, TX

Are you going to be in Dallas promoting your book at a public event? If so, when and where? I would love to get to meet you since I had to miss the Arlington event because of a family member's medical emergency. It really is cold. It could be 60 by Friday though. Ann

Topic: CURVES IN DALLAS?

Okay, who is doing Curves in Dallas? Anyone want to join me at the Curves on OakLawn or Mockingbird? I need a buddy to go with and be accountable to. I am still doing the weight circuit and getting to water aerobics at the Park Cities YMCA a few times a week. I really noticed the most change in inches when I did Curves more faithfully. Who wants to join me? I am interested in changing my body more. I am not done yet with losing. I am willing to do whatever it takes. Ann

Topic: RE: Finally started loosing again............

Hi Rhonda, You were singing my song. I have been stuck between 260-270 for months and months. I pray I can follow in your footsteps. The heartache over thinking this is all the weight my body would lose has been immense. I am very happy for you. I haven't been 248 in 30 years. I am sure willing to join you there. Keep up the good work. You have inspired me. Ann

Do they let you use a straw? Do you have to drink much? How did you avoid throwing up?

Topic: Upper GI?

Has anyone had an upper GI where you have to drink that barium stuff? Would you let me know what to expect? I am having one in the morning to check on the status of my pouch. We are trying to figure out what might be going on that I am not losing (for many months) despite exercise and eating right. I am nearly two years out and nowhere close to goal. Hopefully I will know what is happening and what my options are this week. Thanks in advance, Ann
