Toothbrush and paste! They didn't let me eat or drink anything for a long time after my surgery but I COULD brush my teeth (go figure). It was sooo nice to get that anesthesia taste out of my mouth.

Welcome back! It's been waaay too long! Glad things are looking up in the job front and that your weight has been stable. I was actually thinking about you the other day when someone asked a complicated question about something (I don't remember what the question was or who was asking, I just thought to myself- "that's a Paul question!" lol)

I just read your post from this weekend and you have me a little worried for you. What if you were heading to the grocery store or somewhere that your wife wasn't available to help out? I understand that in MOST cases hypoglycemia is a nuisance, but for you it seems as though its partly controlling your life right now. I'm not sure I'd wait until the end of the month to get back with your doctor. Something is only a nuisance until it controls your life and right now that sounds like more of the case.

It sounds as though the doctor did labs to check vitamin levels.... did he check anything else? adrenal and pituitary gland function?

If you've eaten this way for a long time (and you haven't had previous problems) and you indeed eat healthy then why now? I could understand if you went on a cookie binge all day without adding proteins etc. I understand what he's trying to do with keeping your body in check with the added proteins. Are you eating smaller meals 5 times a day to keep your blood sugar constant? Are you adding more carbs and proteins when you work out? It sounds like you are doing everything right.

I'd give him a call today. This sounds like more than just a fluke of "low blood sugar" episodes. Even if it truly is you still need to have a plan when you're by yourself and need intervention.

Another option is buying the already pre-made cake like you said and then buying a kit to top it. They'll sell you the kits for around $5 or so. So, you could get a cake with white frosting and pink accents and then add a stork or whatever is cute to it.....  not that I would know this first hand or anything

Thanks for sharing that!! My heart skipped a beat at your previous post....ugh. Making the decision to do this is hard enough, going through all of that was just insult! I'm so glad that everything was "fixed". While it may not be the easiest decision you've ever made, I do truly hope and pray that it will be the BEST! The next few weeks will be hard, no doubt, but give yourself time. Be gentle on yourself for a few weeks. Take time to heal.

Keep at least one pair of pants. Two years from now you will appreciate those pants. I pull mine out whenever I'm having my own pity party. I also found a pair of Gap jeans size 8 at a clothing exchange one time. They were super cute but I didn't figure I'd ever get to that size. It was the last day of the clothing exchange and everything was going to charity so I picked them up and stored them in my closet. I would pull them out every now and again to see if I was making any progress. Low and behold one day they fit. Soon enough they even became loose. My first goal was to be healthy, but then my next goal were those darn jeans. Find your goals- be realistic, but don't ever give up.
