Topic: An Update on My Son's MIL

Over the last 18 months or so, I had been asking for prayer for my son and his family as they took in his MIL to stay at their house while she was in hospice care.   Highly unusual I would think to have someone in hospice for so long.

Well, she has been taken off of hospice care and has moved into an assisted living facility.  She is not getting "better" but she is not getting worse.

1. What was your very first concert/age/band ...I never went growing up.  My first concert was Melanie and I was 21.  Drove 90 miles to get there on a weeknight when I had to be at work at 6AM the next day.

2. Your favorite Band, group, performer... Melanie is my favorite, but also like Meat Loaf, Foreigner and Bon Jovi

3. your favorite kind of music ...  70's

4. your favorite song .. To listen to,  Psychotherapy by Melanie.  Other favs include You Give Love a Bad Name, and Two Out of Three Ain't Bad
 
5. Do you sing like a rockstar while in the car driving by yourself??

Especially Foreigner and Bon Jovi.  I crank it up and open the windows.

I had tickets to take Mary to see Donnie and Marie on Dec 1st in Vegas.  We got called today saying they were extending their Thanksgiving break to go through Christmas. 

She is disappointed.

I actually cut down the number of times I weigh myself about 2 years after my surgery.  Up until then, I weighed twice a day.  Before I went to bed and when I got up.  Now I still weigh every day, but only when I get up.  I do it so I can track any slight weight gain and nip it in the bud.

Prayers for your mom and your family. 

My daughter-in-law's mother has been on hospice care for over a year now.  Thank God for Medicare and hospice care.  Those folks are miracles.

Topic: Prayer request from my daughter

A friend of hers had WLS.  She is in Presbetyrian Hospital in Denton.  She had complications and now has pnuemonia and is on a ventilator.  If I get more info, I will pass it on.

First off, regarding the house sale, just remember, every day is a day closer, no matter when it is.

Good idea for you to take the week off afterward.  It has been a lot of stress on you. 

Regarding work, I have a coworker who was demoted from a management position as a supervisor to an hourly position as a lead.  Her comment:  "I still have a paycheck.  There are a lot of people out there that can't say that."

Boot camp.  Better you than me.  It's neat that you are doing it together.  Good luck with it.  I have to revamp my eating too.  I started it today.  Cutting down on the junk.  Not cutting it out, just cutting down.  I have a lot of it in the house, but I have to get over the idea that if it is in the house, I HAVE  TO  EAT  IT  TODAY.    I think I took the first step today.  Baby steps.

Been a fun week.  Visiting with our friend from California.  Not working much.  Enjoying life.

Just a reminder, you need to TAKE YOUR VITAMINS  AND SUPPLEMENTS and make sure you get your daily allotment of PROTEIN.

Prayer requests are listed below:

Continue to keep your thoughts and prayers for the members of our Armed Forces serving around the world, especially during this time of increased awareness.  Please thank God for these men and women every day.  In addition, please keep the wives and family members in your thoughts.

PEOPLE SEEKING EMPLOYMENT: Pray not just for employment, but also that they adjust to the stress the lack of employment brings.


Upcoming Surgeries/current hospitalization:

Phyllis - echocardiogram and stress test on 8/10
Norma - prayers for upcoming cataract surgery (8/15) for her father.

Recovering from surgery:

Kim G. had her gall bladder removed on 7/27
Vivian - surgery 7/26


Other prayer requests:

Avis is requesting prayers of clarity as she tries to make a decision regarding her employment at her current company, she now has a new supervisor.  She needs to make sure any move she makes is the Lord's choice.

Jennifer - THEY HAVE AN OFFER!!!  Yes!!  Great news, .  The house needs some repairs to pass code and Jennifer and Mike need to come up with the money for closing.  May the sale go through with no problems

Michelle S. - Her uncle has been passed away.  Her Dad is having a hard time dealing all the issues associated with the loss of loved ones.

Nina - Pray for her daughter to be able to sustain herself financially as she started her new job/apartment.  Her cousin Troy with his health issues.  And for Nina as she awaits her unemployment extension.

Norma - Relisted their house, still trying to sell. Prayer for her parents health issues.

Phyllis requests prayer for her co-worker Norma B. who will  be out of work for 3-4 months.  She has loss the use of her right hand, unknown for how long now. 

Ruth - a friend from OFF.  Her father is dying, and the family is having a hard time with it.

Just wanted to mention that Mary was very impressed with the new place.  So were my dogs (they got the leftovers).  Good food, good portions, good staff.  Can't ask for much more.
