So, I am four days away from starting liquids for two weeks and I had all my Pre op stuff today. Did anyone have second thoughts about going through with it? I am so scared I will hate food, be hungry all the time or be sorry. Is this normal??

Super normal..You wouldn't be human without second guessing this desicion.. I did several times. Now here I am 3 months out.. Seems like a dream. I can eat anything I want . I stick to protien first and then Iam full and don't want anything else.
Hang in there you will be where I am before you know it..
Good luck with surgery!!

I can't say whether it's normal or not, but I go back and forth between excitement and those thoughts ALL the time.  So either it's normal, or we're both nuts. :)

At my pre op appointment my surgeon asked me how much I was freaking out and about my second thoughts. He assured me that EVERYONE has them. The only people he worries about are those who claim they haven't had those types of thoughts. So see you're perfectly normal!

I still love food, but it doesn't control me. I'm NEVER hungry. On the weekends without a "schedule" I often forget to eat lunch and all of a sudden it's 3:00 pm! I have never been sorry I did this. I am loving my sleeve!

As the commerical says......"Just do it".  You've come this far because you have no other options right?  It's either stay the same....or take a chance and change your life.

I say go for it.

I've second-guessed myself several times but each time I come back to the fact that I've needed a change for a long time...a big change!  I started working out regularly (not just chasing kids, but real 30-minute workouts!) 1/26, started my pre-op diet 2/2 (thus I'm finishing the 8th day right now), & my surgery is scheduled for 2/16.  I've dropped 16# in the past two weeks...which is AWESOME, but it also gave me pause of whether I really needed a surgery or if I could just power my way back to healthy.  Well....I really don't want to stay on a liquid diet forever, so I came back to the core belief that this is the best decision for me!  You may need to go back to the ole fashioned pros & cons list, look at it as objectively as you can, and if the pros of surgery still outweigh the cons & the cold feet, proceed as planned!

BTW, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your Avatar!  Where did you get that!  I want to steal it for my FB page!

Best wishes! Melissa

You're going to love food just as much, trust me. You're just going to appreciate it more. Seriously, you're going to be kicking your flappy skin, wondering why you didn't do it sooner. Welcome to the loser's bench.

It is perfectly normal.  Especially if this is your first surgery.  You won't hate food.  You won't feel hungry all the time.  YOu will come out of this feeling better than you ever have.

I was very scared and very emotional going into surgery.  13 weeks out now, I never have given it a second thought.  Every day when I step on the scale and see myself a little lighter than before its a victory.  When I put on a pair of pants that I could never have worn before and they fall back down, its a joy and I have to control the impulse to laugh like a little kid.

You may have some struggles while in recovery or when advancing through the different diet stages.  Just remember that you are doing this for you and all of the people you love.  a month after surgery all of the little pains and irritations will be forgotten as you keep discovering the new you waiting to come out.

BEst of luck on your sugery.  Stay strong, you will get through it and love it.
