Okay, so yesterday was the two week "anniversary" of my surgery.  I'm on full liquids until the 24th at the direction of my surgeon.  While I know there are others who got to transition to purees and then soft foods, etc. more rapidly, I said all along that I would follow my doctor's guidelines.

But . . . but . . . today that open bag of pita chips left behind by my friend looked so good and my head told me that I was dying for something salty and crunchy.  I caved and had three that I ate way too fast.

They did not go down easily.  In fact, it felt like they got stuck and I was slowly, carefully trying to swallow them all of the way.   Although I made progress, it wasn't fast enough for my body which decided that what wouldn't go down must come up.  Ugh.

A friend of mine who had bypass surgery four years ago told me a few months ago that at some point my head would convince me that I really wanted to eat something I shouldn't and that this would happen to illustrate the lesson.

Needless to say I'm back on track and won't try that again anytime soon.

Raising a protein shake as a toast to learning the lesson today!

Yikes!  Chips in a new sleeve.  Eek!

Glad you are ok and that you won't do that again!!  Hopefully others learn from this too.  And when you get further out and are able to eat chips (and other stuff like that), just know that it'll take good habits to avoid eating that.

Sounds like me and three small cheese raviolis in vodka sauce about two weeks ago. Horrid puking and I WONT DO THAT AGAIN!!!

In fact last night we had chili and i was a good girl, pureed mine up with some sour cream. Rest of family had saltines with theirs.  So i go in the kitchen later and think...Oh one saltine cant hurt. I dip it in the chili and am just about to put it in my mouth and decide NO WAY, so I suck the chili off it and toss it in the sink.

I'm a quick learner!  LOL

Those couple of chips were not worth the reaction.  Nothing tastes good enough to go through that again.

We've all done something like that!  It does teach us a hard lesson.  For me it was balsamic vinegar.  The night before my one week check up I decided to have just a taste and shot a teaspoon full of Balsamic.

I was in pain for half an hour at least and vomitted.  I could have caused a leak.  I was stupid.  I admitted it to my surgeon and he told me to not be stupid any more.  Since then I have stayed on my plan to a T.  I didn't even cheat on my birthday when I made everyone else have cake and ice cream.

Thank goodness you're OK.  I hope like me, this just reinforces the rules for you.
