Feeling really full all of a sudden...

A couple of days or so ago, I posted about being hungry.  Nothing I have done has changed... still taking in pretty much the exact same fluids and the same amount of protein shakes, but yesterday I noticed that I felt the protein, and actually even the jello, seemed to sit a little heavier on my tummy.

Today, it actually took me longer to get my morning protein shake down than it did yesterday...  really?  I've read so many threads where vets have promised newbies that feeling full becomes more prominent once progressing to solids, so what the heck is this?

MizzEvil told me that our aftercare coordinator (we used the same surgeon) said that sometimes it takes the body a few days to realize that it doesn't need as much acid, since we don't have as much tummy, and that this can be the cause of some people needing more antacid early on.  Could it be that my body is finally adjusting to what I'm doing?

Not that I'm complaining, because at least it's making me not mind being on liquids quite as much... but wow!

It took my tummy several weeks to finally feel full. I never felt hungry but my tummy never felt like I'd eaten anything either. Then, one day, my tummy let me know I'd eaten and what I'd eaten was enough. Before that, though, I only put on my plate no more than 4 ounces of food and after I'd eaten that, I didn't eat any more. According to my medical experts - doctor and NUT - my tummy is 6 ounces so I should aim to eat a couple of ounces under that per meal. Most days I still eat 4 ounces per meal, depending on the food. All ounces are not equal in how they feel in my stomach. Example - I can eat 4 ounces of chicken just fine but 3 ounces of tuna fish is too much.

Congratulations on your tummy catching up. Things will get easier for you when you're head isn't telling you all the time that you are starving.

Your nerve endings are a mess and not working right- maybe a few more are firing correctly now?  Restriction is a funny thing.  I have days where even with dense protein it is a struggle to feel satiated, and then there are days like today that restriction kicks in so quickly and fiercely I struggle to hit minimums.  Just take good care of yourself in your early days and it will all work out!

I agree with this theory.  You basically have very little feeling down there for a few days to even longer post op.

I bet the swelling has gone down some and your nerve endings start firing/repairing themselves in the right places and boom.....suddenly your brain starts getting the new signals as to how small your stomach is now.
Hadn't thought of it that way, but it makes perfect sense. I was starting to think I was crazy lol...

Thanks!
