sleeping on your back?!?!?

so do you have to sleep on your back after your sleeve?? i am a side and tummy sleeper and i am worried i will end up on my tummy.... i always do. any tips? or how long do i have to sleep on my back?  am i allowed to sleep on my side at all??

I did, I think You may be too sore to to lay any other way. It depends. I slept on a recliner for 2 days, SO that made me stay on my back. Also Kept my Deep breathing going. One side is definately more sore and it may be painful to lay on a side. I was able to sleep on one side after 3 or 4 days with the pain meds.  GOOD LUCK with Everything,  You will be on your side before you know it !!

I used pillows and could still sleep half way on my stomach after surgery.

You are all lucky!  I was about 4 weeks out before I could get comfortable in any other position than on my back.  And considering that I never was a back sleeper and normally slept on stomach/side - it was a long four weeks!  I hope that you have an easier time than I did!

Drag..I got severe sleep apnea...when I sleep on my back it is so much worse
are you on cpap?

I am a tummy sleeper..the first two night I slept on my back and side. Just used a pillow to kinda keep any pain at bay that I felt by having things moving around too much and by the third night I was able to sleep on my tummy. Just rolled over super slow and took my time. But I kept a pillow handy in case I needed to brace myself up a bit.... the only advice I can give you is when you roll over, take your time and if it hurts, don't do it.

I could sleep on my stomach 3 days after surgery with no pain and slept on my side from the first night home.  It shouldn't be an issue.
slept on my stomach as soon as i got home, approved by the surgeon

It hurt like hell to roll onto my side for the first week or two but I did it anyway.  Pulling on the incision where your fascia is stitched back together (where they take out your stomach from) was painful but I just had to get on my side.  I can sleep on my back but only for so long before I have to turn to my side.

I was able to sleep on my side using pillows in the hospital (I asked for extra pillows). I can only sleep on my back if I am on some heavy meds that knock me out; otherwise I am always a side sleeper.

Good luck and your body will tell you if it doesn't like moving that way.

You others were lucky! I was just like Feystorm. It has taken 4 weeks before I could lie on my side without such significant pain I wouldn't be able to fall asleep. And I have always been a side sleeper. It has been a LONG 4 weeks of sleeping on my back and I am very grateful it is over!

Yeah I'm on cpap with oxygen and a humidifier. I can't sleep without it. Sleeping on my back is still about impossible...breathing is so overrated anyway. I guess folks that can do it just take it for granted... But it must be nice.
I'm gonna rock my sleeve (when I get it) lose this weight and throw this machine as far as I can! ;-D
