I've lose 44 pounds in 71 days.

Crap, I meant to say I've LOST 44 pounds in 71 days, not LOSE. Sorry about that! I hate typos!

I've been so down on myself lately thinking that I've not been losing like I should. The scale just SITS at one weight and doesn't move at all OR it will flutuate between a few pounds. I'll go up a pound, drop a few ounces and stay that way for a few days, then will gain a pound and be right back where I was the week prior (maybe 6 ounces less.)

I weighed before bed this morning (I work third shift from home) and I woke up about 6 hours later. I left and went to town for about 3 hours. I came home and had lost a pound. I went over to my mama's house and had supper with her and drank a 12-ounce bottle of water while there. I came home a few hours later and had dropped another pound even after eating and drinking. The ONLY thing that I've done differently in the past few days is I started drinking a protein shake per day. Until 2 days ago, I wasn't able to get it down and keep it down so I wasn't drinking it. I was trying to get it in through food but wasn't doing that too well either. About a week ago, I started feeling dizzy and weak and decided that I HAD to drink it one way or the other, so I have been forcing it down and keeping it down. Is it possible that just two scoops of protein powder a day has kickstarted my loss or do you think I'm just a wonky loser?

It sounds like you have done woderfully having lost 44 pounds!  I haven't had the surgery yet, but from what I've read everyone loses at different rates because our bodies all react differently.  It could be that your body was still reacting to all the changes so it took awile for more weight to come off.

I love your profile picture by the way :-)

Thanks Amber! I'm a true rainbow mama. I have a transgender female-to-male (almost) 21-year-old.
That's great!  Its lovely to see how proud you are of him!

Thanks. I love him dearly. He's having his first major surgery on June 1st (top surgery). We can't wait to get it over with.
HI Michelle,

i remember when you and I were pre-op. I guess we are vets now. You have come a long way! 44 lbs is awesome. You are doing a great job. I am down 31 lbs since 04/16/12. I feel great.

I find when I drink an extra protein drink and add 20 oz more of water I lose faster. It's hard for me to do that though. I can only stomach the Premier Shakes from Costco. They have 30g of protein per shake. I have one for breakfast every day.

I'll be praying for your baby's surgery on the1st.

Best,

Sharon

Hi there Sharon!!! Way to go on your loss as well. I'm a slow loser, I think. I wi**** was faster. I had been told by my surgeon that he EXPECTED me to lose quickly but I guess my body has other ideas. LOL! I am a little bummed that it's not coming off quicker but I'm still thrilled with my loss so far. I'm just going to continue doing what I do and hope it will continue to leave me.

Thank you for the well wishes for my boy. He's not my only one though. I have two other kids. They're not "kids" anymore though. The oldest (a daughter) just turned 32 and the other one (a son) will be turning 31 on the last day of June, then I have the "baby" who is going to be 21 in December. I also have 2 gorgeous granddaughters, Tallulah Mae and Penelope Jane.
Girl, you got this! You are doing an amazing job! I hads a bad stall for a week and was really pissed about it because I was doing everything right. Then I lost five lbs the next week. Our bodies ebb and flow in all sorts of ways. Cut yourself a break and just remember it IS coming off and 44 lbs is a big deal!

I have some nectar I can send you! Lol!

ROFL!!! YOU can KEEP that mess! I'll pass. *shudder* I hate that stuff with a fiery passion. I'm going to stick to my EAS chocolate whey isolate powder that I got from Target. I even started drinking it in cold water instead of milk. I'm movin' on up!

GO YOU on that amazing weight loss!! How much exercise do you get? I'm not getting any yet and that's probably part of my problem. I'm going to start the treadmill soon.
I am exercising like a fiend. Seriously, like five to six days a week. I'm up so early because I'm so damn sore from Zumba. I love it, though. I'm trying to minimize skin issues.

I think you probably needed that protein and your body is telling you so!

Beyond that, let's go back a year, and say it's May 10, 2011.  How would you have felt to be able to say, "I've lost 44 pounds in the last 71 days!!!"  (Yes, I do think there would be exclamation marks after that statement! LOL)

And congrats on your son, and best wishes as he becomes the real him, while you are becoming the real you.

[I'm not gaining weight. I keep lowering my goal!] [I LOVE MY SLEEVE!]

Louisiamay, you are so right! There's no way I could have lost that amount in that short amount of time without the sleeve! Thank you for putting that into perspective for me.

Stephanie, enjoy that exercise! I wish I had the energy and get-up-and-go to do it right now but I just don't. My day will come.
Michelle, I am sooo happy you have found a protein powder you can keep down!! Honestly I always lost more consistantly when I was high in protein (100-150 gr per day) and water (80+oz daily) every single day.

Congrats on the 44 lbs lost!! That is such a huge accomplishment! Your averaging over 15 lbs per month. Doesnt sound like a "slow" loser to me. You are doing great!!

That's .62 pounds per day. I've averaged .59 pounds per day in 150 days, which is about 88 pounds in 150 days which means you'll be at 100 pounds lost before 6 months at that rate of loss. Sometimes you have to put things into perspective.

Also that 44 pounds may not seem to be a lot in actual numbers but what percentage of your excess weight is it?

Edit: It's 20% of your EWL according to your ticker. Is your goal your personal goal or your goal to put you in a normal BMI range?

Thanks for doing the math for me, Hwag. I total suck at it and didn't even try to do it. LOL!

To answer your question, my goal on the ticker is my personal goal.
