Ugh - ACID REFLUX question!

Hi veterans!  Can someone help me out...??

I want to call the doc, but it's Sunday so I figure I'll start here until I can talk to him tomorrow!

I just started getting nasty old acid reflux last night.  It was tough to sleep at times.  I had it occasionally pre op, too - and I would take an OTC zyrtec (sp) which worked wonderfully.  Is this something I can take post op if it's small enough?  I never asked before.  Or can I do Tums (which usually wasn't enough, but it might take some of the edge off..)?  Any advice/tips/tricks until I can get a hold of my doctor tomorrow?  I'm on clear liquids only and have only had water/broth/jello.  Thanks in advance!
I think most docs put their patients on a PPI right after surgery - you can pick up some prilosec and take that, but tums will work faster.

I took Prilosec once for two weeks and it worked like magic.  I will ask if I can start that tomorrow.  Thanks!
My doctor told me the only way I could take pills is if they were smaller then a tic-tac.  I haven't had any problems with cutting my meds up small.  I just have to wait 10 minutes in between each pill to swollow the the next.  Hope this helps.

I started out with a lot of different PPI's. But, in the end, Pariet 20mg's twice a day works best for me. 1 a day wasn't doing it. Plus it is 1/2 the size of a tic tac.
