Surgery Tuesday......Nervous!!!!

I am excited but, very very nervous!!! I attended a support meeting on Thursday this past week and was relieved to find that lots of others felt the same way!! I am more afraid of after surgery then the actual surgery itself. I just want to be alright and begin living again!!! Any wise words from out there? Peace, Joni

You're going to do just fine ...I was nervous, too.  I think everyone is.  Just be sure to sip, walk, and rest.  Let us know how you do!

Joni -you're right -those feelings are normal. Life as you know it will be changed.  But we NEED change to find success.  My surgical experience was much easier than expected. My surprise: food I thought I couldn't live without, lost its attraction and hold on me!  Here's to a quick recovery for you. Don't forget ..... Sip .... Walk ..... Repeat !

my thoughts are with you! I am 5 days post op.  I  was nervous and scared before hand, but, the day, came and went... actually *tmi*  I started TOM the day before and I was more worried about having that then the surgery.. lol.. afraid to 'make a mess' on the surgery table.  like they say.. sip sip sip... work the gas out by walking and get some rest.

my hubby had his this past Tuesday. He couldnt believe it was already over with when they brought him to the room. He slept a bit, then up and walking a few hours later. He was released on Thurs, and taken off his DIABETES med's before he left the hospital, yay! Walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip. He's doing excellent and says he already feels better than he did BEFORE surgery. We've been to Walmart twice and to Sam's today, and he is having absolutely NO problems at all! My surgery is July 23, and I'd go crawl up on that table today if they could get me in there. We scheduled weeks apart, but I really think we could've done it the same day with no problem. You'll be fine and it'll be over with, and you will be home before you know it, and onto a healthier life!

Thank you everyone I really needed this!! I think I am just worried A. because I am almost 50 and B. because I am soooo heavy I worry about blood clots. But, everyone says the same thing move and sip so as best I can I will do this!!! I might not move too far but, I will!!! And the more I do the more I will!!! Thank you everyone again!!!!!

my hubby is 52, and I'm 48 and I'll be having surgery 7/23 too. Walk and sip. They will probably give you the injections in the stomach for blodd clots (not as bad as it sounds), plus they'll have the boots on your legs to help with the blood clots while in the hospital. Just make sure you are up moving as much as you can
after you're sent home.

Thank you so much for sharing this for me!!! It gives me hope!! I do know that they are going to give me the shots to take home for two weeks and I am going to have to move move move. Which is hard for me to imagine since its really really hard for me to do!!! BUT, as I said I will move 25 steps. Sit down....move 25 more steps....sit down.......move....just do what I gotta do. PRAYERS PRAYERS PRAYERS and thanks!!!!
