confession

Today I went out and celebrated my anniversary and while I am in maintenance I have been a bad girl today. I had mm at the movies and three pb, cookies. I haven't been this bad since before preop. I am so mad at myself but hopefully this confession will help me feel better and start a new day tomorrow.

That's being bad? There was no beer? No cupcakes? No popcorn?

One of the most difficult things I noticed for WLS folks is forgiving themselves for not being perfect. I believe that not being able to forgive ourselves can lead to the downward spiral of bad food choices.

Let go of today and start new tomorrow.

Go look in the mirror and say "I love you." Seriously.

If it were me posting this what would you, as a person at goal and in maintenance, say to me?

Now, say that to yourself.

Hey - confession is probably a good thing, but none of us are perfect! If you have reached goal and this is the first time you went off plan, you are better than me! Just start fresh tomorrow, or even tonight - you will be fine as long as you don't continue what you did today. Just keep doing what you have been doing (before today).

You clearly have done something to succeed in your weight loss journey. My nutritionist told me, "somedays you'll have bad days. But if you dwell on it and feel guilty, you'll do it again". Today was your anniversary (congrats!) but tomorrow is a new day.
You have gone a long way baby in a short year.  We all are so proud of you.  You are still alive and want to live a full life.  As long as the treets are not on a daily basis, so be it.  Enjoy your new life and rejoice.
Thanks everyone I know its not as bad as before I just don't want to step into old habits...thanks so much for the continued support

movies trigger the urge to eat popcorn so I avoided the movies for a long time. Then when I did go I just drank fluids. Now, I occasionally have a cup of popcorn with a few M&M's. I go to the movies once every month or two so it's not a big deal to me. I used to eat a large popcorn bag with my husband, and part of the free refill too, and walk out feeling SO SICK. Yet we did it every time!! Post op, 1 cup of popcorn feels satisfying and indulgent and I'm good. No sick feeling, I track it on myfitnesspal and I'm golden.
