Fresh out of hospital and can't tell if stomache is small or not

I can drink water easily. Some say they can't eve do that. Is it possible for the dr to not make it smaill enough?

Everyone is different. You're obviously one of the lucky ones. Keep in mind, though... you've just had surgery. Your stomach is numb in some ways, the nerves may have been cut. Be kind to yourself.

I was able to drink liquids fairly easily immediately following surgery.  You are ok.  I also didn't really feel my restriction until 6 weeks after the surgery when I transitioned back to normal diet, of course I was making sure to measure my food carefully in that 6 weeks so I didn't test it too much.

Even today I have days where I feel I can eat more than I should (maybe a cup or more), followed by days where I get full on a half cup of food.

No worries, your restriction will be there.  I had no issue with drinking water fresh out- not even minimal.  It was a breeze to eat mushies, and at that point I really began to question if my surgery was done right.  When I got to dense protein, for sure I could feel the restriction kick in- but could still out eat everybody who was at about the same place.  I have a larger sleeve on a tall frame, and the restriction I have is working just dandy.  Remember the nerves in your stomach are a hot mess right now so you may not be able to feel a thing and not realize it- stick close to what you are supposed to eat, even if you don't "feel" it.    You can eat around any size sleeve, so the choice is up to you to maximize your tool.

I'm 10 days post op and I can drink water easily too. However, I just got released to eat some real food again and I can definitely feel the restriction! I wouldn't worry about liquids too much, I actually considered myself fortunate that I could drink so easily because it meant much less isk of dehydration!

First....WELCOME HOME!!!!!  I'm glad your surgery went well and I hope the rest of your recovery is as painless as possible!!

Second...I was just going to say what everyone else said.  It's too early to worry about this.  I think you'll be rocking your sleeve in no time girl.

Be happy!!! I also was able to drink water easily and to this day (month 6) I have NEVER had a problem with eating too much or my sleeve being tempremental!! maybe you are blessed like me :)

No worries! You must be one of the lucky ones that doesn't have severe swelling of the stomach tissue. I had no trouble getting water in either. It was a BLESSING because I was able to stay hydrated and out of the ER.

Once you are on soft foods you'll be amazed by how little you are actually able to eat. I couldn't finish a single scrambled egg when I was first starting back on soft foods. It was wild.

Same for me I also had no problems from the beginning with water, It would hurt a lil if I tried to drink to fast.  I am 6 weeks out and so far so good.  As for restriction I've never really tested it I just eat my 2oz's of protein but I have not had any hunger since the moment I woke from surgery.  I think it's good you have no problems with water that means you can get it down and not become dehydrated.  Congrats on your surgery!

Welcome home Jewelz! I'm glad everything went well for you! You're on the way now!

I have awesome restriction with food, even now, 2 1/2 years out - but I NEVER had restriction with fluids, from the very first sip - so don't worry! Just be glad that you are less likely to be dehydrated because you find it difficult to get fluids in! Congratulations on getting through surgery - now the fun part begins!

I was drinking 64 oz of fluids while recovering in the hospital - granted it took my all day and all evening. I have a 34 bougie.

Be thankful that you are getting fluids in easily. Dehydration is a *****

Drinking enough fluids is my #1 goal every single day.

Just make sure you aren't gulping and you aren't trying to sip too fast. You'll know when you do. It hurts.

Being good with fluids will really help with your recovery, imo.
