Which do you prefer to make your protein shakes? Do some go better with certain flavors than other? Basically what is your preference and why?

I have been trying a few different combinations and wanted to see what everyone else preferred.

Early out, I used water, and I used the Nectar Syntrax fruity flavors.  I had a second serving of Unjury Chicken Soup, also made with water.  After a while, I added Nectar Chocolate Truffle to my coffee in the morning, with almond milk.  This is what I still do today.  I use about a third of a cup of almond milk to mix up the powder, then add the coffee.  I use a bigger mug than average for this.  Fat free milk has too many carbs for me, even today.  I am just as satsified with almond milk.  Good luck!

I like water w/ fruity Nectars and Almond Breeze Unsweetened Almond/Coconut milk with coffee and protein shakes.

I like the almond/coconut blend because it's creamier and than just plain almond and but it's not as high in cals as the plain coconut. I won't touch soy or regular milk.

Hello lalalaza,

With my protein shakes in pre-op and post-op I used skim milk, I would put in a blender a: 1 cup skim and 1 scoop Pure Protein Frosty Chocolate Whey Protein or  1 scoop of Pure Protein Vanilla Cream Whey Protein and mix the skim milk and protein powder in the blender for 30 seconds and serve it. The two does mixes well together. I use the skim milk because I like the way it tastes, no fat, low in cals. and it's good for you. Some times I would use 1% milk for my protein shakes.

I wish you luck with your different combinations.

Isabel, I use Blue Diamond Original Unsweetened Almond milk for anything that I would use milk for and I enjoy it.  Like Happy said, skim milk has too many carbs for me

I go through phases.  Early out I only used water to save calories.  As I got further out I started using fat free milk to help with flavor- an ice cream substitute essentially.  Then I got on a kick for hot chai lattes and didn't want all the calories, but did want the milk.  Thus, I switched to almond milk.  I don't feel guilty at all with the almond milk and it does a great job helping with calcium- not much protein though.
