Hello all, here's my dilemma. I am a big outdoors guy and love hunting. I started going through and purging some very large clothes for me now and realized about all my very expensive hunting gear that I now swim in. Looking at all this is a double edge sword. Having some emotions connected to this I did not expect. Anyone else have things like this. Kind of a clothes funeral.

I think it's totally understandable. Nothing's black and white; you're going to have feelings connected to these things. But congratulations on your loss!

Last May I got two gorgeous dresses that fit perfectly.  I loved them and wore them to my partner's graduation, my first voice recital, and a few other cool things.  I was really sad when I tried them on last month and they're huge on me now.  I'm happy I've lost weight, of course, but really sad to have to donate those dresses :(

I just experienced my first clothes funeral. Probably 3/4 of my closet doesn't fit anymore. My husband and friends thought I would be so happy, but I kept feeling sad instead. I have all of these very expensive career clothes that I can't use - it didn't feel like a celebration even though it should. I then had an interview for a promotion and felt guilty because I needed to spend money on an outfit for it. I am proud of my progress, but I completely understand your feelings of it being double-edged.

If you haven't checked it out already, you might consider Gwynnie Bee.  I don't have a professional job, but if I did, it would be a lifesaver while I was losing weight!  (It's like Netflix for clothes.)

Totally sad about some clothes in my closet. Can't let go of most of them yet. It makes me panic to see so little in my closet and then realize how much money I'm throwing out

Ditto, I try to think how much I'm saving on food to take away the sting.

If you have an attachment to  particular item or items you could investigate having them altered instead of replaced.  Just a thought.

Had to give away a favorite leather coat and haven't been able to find a replacement yet.
