When you are losing rapidly or near your goal and the compliments start flooding in, how do you handle it? I am having such a difficult time being gracious and accepting and moving on. What are some of your responses to the compliments you are receiving?

Thanks! I found myself repelling compliments with talk about what I still need to do...I am really going to work on it.

I have the same problem - I get so mad at myself for saying "oh I have a lot more to lose" or something to that effect instead of just saying thank you!  Also don't you think it's more awkward the more you lose?  Now I'm down 62lbs and it's gone from "you look different, have you lost weight"? to "Holy Shi* you've lost so much weight".  I'm happy that I look so much better, but its a little bit embarrassing when someone reacts that way.

Agreed! It is a lot more awkward...thats all they want to talk about; and it gets embarrassing because I feel like everyone stops to hear what you've been doing.

I've been kinda dreading when that starts to happen for me.  I've only lost 49 pounds so far and am already getting a lot of comments and compliments.  I can only imagine when I'm down 100 and beyond!

I say "Thank you for noticing. I appreciate it."

And yeah, I struggle with it. It's kind of funny to me now that I've lost over 100, and I get "have you lost some weight?" Usually because it's followed by "how much?" and when I tell them, they get flustered. They say "Wow, I guess I should have noticed sooner." LOL

It takes practice for sure.  Accept them graciously - note the effect and compliment back...like this.

What a nice thing to say!  Thank you so much for making my day!

I try to happily say, "thanks, I feel great" and then change the subject. I try not to roll my eyes or make a funny face while saying it.
