Dr. goal weight, My goal weight
My doctor has never given me a goal weight. I am thinking 140 foir my goal but qccording to the weight chart for my height, that is way too high (I am 5'2"). At the same time, I don't want to look skinny. I will check with the surgeon today.

Assuming you are not big bone or super muscular.... go for the lower weight. A slight regain is very common with vsg and you will be very glad to have some wiggle room. Once you get down to that weight range you may realize it doesn't look quite as skinny as you imagined, and it won't be hard to put on a few pounds if needed. On the other hand, once you mentally switch out of the weight loss phase mindset it could be very difficult to pull of more weight.

Dawn - Although I claim to be 5"3" I am actually about a half inch shorter. Anyway, I'm holding steady around 133 right now. It's thin for me, especially if you discount all the loose, hanging skin. I am constantly being told how "tiny", how "skinny", how "little" I am . Kind of annoys me because I weighed less than this in high school and nobody EVER suggested I was tiny, skinny or little - lol! A different time...
Anyway, don't get hung up on those stupid weight charts - they are ridiculous!! Once you get close to 140 you'll be able to figure out if that's where you want to be or not. As long as you're healthy and your labs and other numbers (like cholesterol, B/P, glucose) are good, don't sweat a number on the scale. Don't let that define you or your happiness, OK?
Thanks guys. I am kind of big boned, and believe it or not, somewhat muscular under my "insulation" LOL. I plum forgot to ask my doctor about his GW during my appointment today, but I am going for 140.

I'm also 5'2" and big boned (and big chested). My doc gave me a goal weight of 150, but I was thinking more 140. I think that once I get down to these goals, I will re-evaluate then. I've never been either of those weights in my adult life so I honestly don't know how I would look/feel at either weight. The lowest I have been is around 175.
Both my surgeon and my PCP said 220 for me (I started at nearly 400 pounds).
Now that I'm there, I don't like it. 220 was never my goal to start with; 170 was. So I'm aiming for that target. I feel like I will look healthy at 170. I am 5'4" and have a large frame, so if I aim for 150 (normal wt for my height) I feel like I will look sickly. I want to look healthy, not sick!
