Just had my appointment with the therapist and surgeon. LOVE the therapist so far. I have been holding in all my stress and ended up blubbering like a baby.

OK, so just had my 7th surgeon/NUT appointment, 1st one doesn't count towards my 6 months). Lost 2 more pounds, have to get bloodwork done and faxed to doc. So I was thinking after they get the results and submit to the insurance company for approval, I would get a call in a couple weeks and then they'd schedule me for my pre-op appointment. NOPE, I have another appointment on 8/29, and this is just a regular appointment! I asked the director why I am having to have 8 appointments AND a pre-op, and that I was expecting to have my surgery mid-August. She said the doctor is booked up with surgeries all through August, but if I get my bloodwork faxed and get approval, they can move my appointment up and make it my pre-op appoitment.I was hoping to get the surgery done before school starts. Now it looks like I will be getting it during the first few weeks of school, IF I am lucky!

Are you a teacher? I love teachers :)

I know the waiting game is frustrating, but it is so worth the weight! Glad to read you connected with the therapist. The head work tends to be the tough part for many of us.

I hear ya on the waiting! I had my last pcp visit on June 2nd. Yes June! It took them until July to get it together to send off. I was hoping to have mine done towards the end of June so I had plenty of time to get adjusted before school starts.  Well.... Surgery is tomorrow and inservice is in a week and a half.

By starting to see a therapist, you are doing the most important work that's a part of this process.  Good on you!  the head stuff has to be confronted if you are going to be any kind of successful with this tool, because that truly is all it is:  a tool.

Hope your surgery gets scheduled sooner than later!

You are so right. I should have gone and seen one a long time ago and I wouldn't be carrying so much baggage, baggage that I wm sure helped contribute to the excess wait.

As the doc who leads my support group says, "Don't should on yourself!" :)

You're taking care of business now.  Move forward and rejoice in that--you are on your way to good health!

I couldn't get an surgery date until 6 weeks after my approval.  Another thing to consider is winter break, if planning for your absence might be easier.  You can be sure everything is running smoothly, put your ducks in a row and recover easier than trying to rush everything at the beginning of the year...just a thought.  Plan for late-fall, like near Thanksgiving and come back after New Years, and very few will even miss you.
