From scale fail to NSV!

So I'm about 6.5 weeks post op and down a total of nearly 60 lbs, about half of that is since surgery and 15 lbs are from the liquid pre-op diet.  I have been noticing that my clothes are a lot looser, especially my pants and I'm on the very last notch on my belt and even that is a little loose so I'm really happy about my progress so far.   I have had some friends, family and co workers comment on how my face looks a lot slimmer and I'm looking good which is wonderful.  My co workers don't know about my surgery so I've just been telling them all that I'm on a high protein low carb diet lol.

Now, for the last week and a half I've been in a stall but I've been dealing with it since I know that stalls are normal.  But this morning when I stepped on the scale it showed that I GAINED 2 LBS!!!! How is that even possible! It's not my time of the month for like another week and I've been getting in my protein and liquid requirements.  I was so upset and really frustrated.  This afternoon I decided to up my exercise a bit.  Up until now I've been mostly walking and doing 30 minutes of beginner circuit training.  It was too cold today to walk and I didn't feel like having Jillian Micheals in my face so I decided to use my stationary bike.  I tried my bike when I was about 3 weeks post op and I couldn't even do 10 minutes without feeling like my arms were going to fail.  It was EXHAUSTING!  This time, however, I managed to double my best time on the bike and I felt GREAT! It was so much easier not only to ride the bike but to mount the bike and to find a comfortable position as well.  It was amazing.  I was able to keep going until my legs told me to stop.   My arms didn't hold me back this time.

This NSV just goes to show me that the scale isn't everything.   I may be in a weird stall right now with an odd 2 lb gain but all that matters are the changes that are happening that are not showing on the sale.  I'm gaining muscle, losing inches, and gaining endurance.

I love my sleeve :-)

Back in the day before I was menopausal I ALWAYS retained tons of water the week before my period.  A quart of water weighs 2 lbs., did you know that?   I bet you $$ that next week or the week after the weight will drop off like crazy.

If you are following your plan there is no possible way for you to gain FAT -- it's simply water that is messing with the scale and you can't let the scale mess with YOUR head.   Hang in there!

Great job!

I'm a little over 5 months out so still a newbie but I can tell you that the same thing happened to me about the same time after surgery.  I hit a stall and ended up gaining 4-5lbs.  It lasted for a few weeks (which is not to say that yours will - just my experience!) and then I lost a bunch very quickly.  Hang in there.  Stick with your eating program and exercise and before you know it, the weight will start coming off again!
