Just curious-when did you first go shopping?
Just wondering when y'all went shopping for the first time. I'm 8 weeks post op and I've lost 47 lbs since my pre-op diet started and 55 since my highest at the beginning of my 6 month insurance diet and exercise. Im a teacher, but I teach pre-k and I usually wear just a t-shirt and pants or shorts. I'd like to dress more like a teacher, but I don't want to go out and buy an entire wardrobe until I hit goal. Were you like that or did you go buy often, or did you set certain losses and you would go buy some. I mean my clothes still fit, but I can take all my pants off without undoing them.
Thanks for your advice!
I was lucky my surgery was in early April...so I just stopped wearing pants till about 2 month ago!!! Dresses are very forgiving and less expensive then shirts and pants... I went to H & M ... alot of people talk about consignment places !!! Cheap is smart because you will out grow quick!!! Best of luck to you!!! :-)

I bought way too many clothes throughout the entire process. Seriously! Way too many.
I was a 22 when I started and had so many 18,16,14 that barely got worn. I'm kind of luck b/c my sister just had a baby and needed some 18s & 16s ( and was happy to have the 14s for when she drops back to normal) otherwise those close would just get consigned.
I would say enjoy you success-- buy some stuff, but not too much. Some people really like thrift stores. I found a couple of stores where I could get some stuff at a reasonable price. Old Navy, New York & Company, Target were all good options for me. But just remember you will probably only be wearing the clothes for a month or so.
I pretty much bought new when current clothes were falling off of me...the pieces I did buy ahead of time were only worn 2-3 times...it took a while for me to drop a size, but then, all of a sudden it seemed like I dropped a couple of sizes all at once. I bought 2-3 stretch pants, and some cheap tops, from walmart...in the mean time, ask appropriately sized friends and family to keep you in mind when they clean out their closets...I found they jumped in and I inherited a ton of great things very quickly. it's a year later and I'm still getting their good stuff. of course, you may have to buy some bras and undies which will be a waste, so don't go overboard until you are stable. congrats and good luck!

HW 275 SW 246 CW 162.5 GW 150 ( 5'1" Over 1 1/2 inch lost in the last few yrs! LOL) lost 50 lbs on my own, stable for 3 yrs, gained back 21 during year b4 surgery.
Hell I bought clothes b4 I even had the surgery! I just knew I'd lose weight to fit them. As far as pants went I just bought one of those elastic belts & kept wearing those pants even though I could pull them down without undoing them. I have to wear fire retardant pants on my job & those pants are expensive!
I still have clothes from all my previous weight loss attempts & I didn't throw any of it away cuz I kept telling myself someday I'll fit them again & now I am! Still working my way down, but I buy clothes online mostly & I don't buy much. I never shopped in a thrift store but I've heard that people shop there cuz it's cheap & since we're going thru sizes so quickly cheap is better anyway. I'm mostly a tshirt & jeans sort of person anyway & my job I gotta wear the uniform.

I have some clothes that I can still fit, and I wear them. I haven't lost as much weight around the lower waist so I can't really go down a pants size even though I am swimming in the thighs. But tops, I have gone from a 22 to a XL, Old Navy and Old Navy outlets have become my friends. I don't like to spend more than $10 on a brand new top, or if I go to a thrift store, no more than $5 a top. I have probably spent about $100 on new tops over the last three weeks. Pants though, like I said, I am in a size 20 now (was 22) and have down to an 18, so I won't need to buy them for a while. I did have to splurge and buy a new pair of running shoes, I love to exercise and they were well worth it!
Congrats!

It took me a good 50 pounds to need to change sizes. I started at a size 28 and only had 26s still in the closet after I finished with 28s. So I switched to "one size fits all" style skirts with elastic waistbands. They're SO much easier than pants!
