So tonight I went to my first Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics meeting for my class and the subject was a good one. Binge eating disorder while the speaker was talking I realized that I had this problem before surgery, and I came to terms with that before I had surgery. She also in a sense made me feel singled out (not really just in my head) she had gotten to the topic of bariatrics and how this isn't a cure for all your problems and it won't stop your disorder. In a way I can see her side, but on the other I feel like having my surgery helped me feel like I had more control of my binge eating I havent done it in what feels like forever I haven't hid my food or ate something and felt guilty. Today I felt really empowered knowing I was aware of my past relationships with not only people, but food as well. All in all great day! 👍😄

She's right, you know. How many times have you heard a vet say that surgery fixes your digestive tract but not your head? It is so very true. Good for you for gaining mindfulness about this important topic!

She's totally right!  Surgery isn't a magical panacea that will cure us of all of our problems.

But I have found that surgery was the push I needed to work on solving all of mine.
