HEARTBURN ISSUES

I had my VSG done on 9/15, and about two weeks ago I began experiencing severe bouts of heartburn from just about anything I eat or drink. I've been taking Tums Ultra Strength tablets 3 tabs two to three times a day to combat it. Any explanation for the heartburn?

Todays episode came on after eating a small slice of Apple pie my wife made. Now I'm paying for it.

Not sure which is the worst of the two evils, eating the apple pie and succumbing to the heartburn or passing on the apple pie and then hearing about it from the wife??

Tums isn't meant for longterm issues, plus it's full of calcium carbonate which we don't absorb well and can lead to kidney stones.

Instead, try taking an actual PPI like prilosec or nexium.  And talk to your surgeon.

And if your wife is trying to sabotage your weight loss and health changes, that's also something that should be addressed.
