4 1/2 Months out w/ protein deficiency

I am 4 1/2 months out and have lost a total of 51 pounds (DOS)   About a month ago I noticed really dry rash-like skin in my bikini area and under my breast, my menstrual also stopped and my nail and hair growth as well. While searching online I realized I had several symptoms of a PD. I have to force myself to drink the high protein shakes my insurance was covering but I find it very difficult to drink the shake and also enough water. I don't have much of an appetite at all anymore but I try to eat nuts and veggies when I feel slightly hungry.  I'm also allergic to Gluten so that cuts out a few extra things I'm unable to have   I currently take the chewable vitamins and ursodiol twice a day to protect my gallbladder.  I'm looking for any tips\help on increasing my water and protein intake!

When you make your protein shake try to add in some greek yogurt, that usually helped me get in extra protein.  In stead of veggies reach for a cheese stick or ham and cheese roll ups.

Good luck

Thanks I will try with the yogurt, and I love cheese sticks or peanut butter cups with apple, and I really love trail mix but I try to keep track of the amount of carbs I'm eating.

At 4 1/2 months you should be healed enough to get in enough water and the shakes. Have you talked to the surgeon of why you are having these problems? I was doing a gallon a day easy at that point in addition to everything else.

I'm not having physical problems but the texture of the shake and no desire to eat or drink is what I am faced with now...

None of us are ever hungry. When the fundus is removed they take away your ghrnelin which is the hormone that causes hunger. So if you want to live you need to just eat not wait for hunger. Set a timer if that is what it takes. You will have some serious health issues perhaps even deadly ones if you do not get your water and protein in.

I've always had a really hard time gagging down the shakes. Have you tried the Syntrax Nectar? It's a bit like kool-aid, I use the fuzzy navel flavor mixed with orange crystal light.

I second the Syntrex Nectars! I love making a virgin Arnold Palmer out of the Iced Tea and Roadside Lemonade. Totally doable. AND you get your water in.

Protein and liquid are your medicine right now and you've got to get them in whether you want to or not :(
