Just home from ER

Just got home from the ER - I am severely constipated =( and feeling pretty awful, past week has not been pleasant and I've consumed so many different stool softeners, laxatives, miralax, MOM etc., it's utterly ridiculous.  I just don't know how this happened, I've been diligent about getting my 64 ounces of fluid daily if not more, eating only what I was instructed, walking daily and still here I am. Anywho, tomorrow is a new day, hopefully one where a BM will happen. Has anybody else encountered this problem?  Am not dealing with this setback too well and to top it off the nurse in the ER had such an attitude with me, she didn't even ask me any questions about what I was doing etc....her one comment was "well you aren't eating much so what do you expect" !! grrrr

I still have constipation all this time out..

although she is correct in stating about the lack of food

i could hear her delivery as I read it..

at the hight of my extreme constipation, I didn't go for 2 1/2 weeks

and oh man when I did..I also got all my water in and couldn't understand

why I was having such a problem..It does lessen substantially after some time..

hang in there!

I take 2 of the "womens pink ducolox" i cant spell it, every 2-3 days because if not i am in pain. It has kept me regular for the past 4 months as long as i remember to take them!

I am a nurse and absolutely hated working with other nurses who had that attitude. so many just dont care. Im sorry you had a mouthy one.

many vsg ers have this problem forever more. I am one who does. You need to use enemas, laxatives, glycerin suppositories, what ever it takes to get cleaned out.

After you. Get.c Leaned out, you need to develop a program. For yourself. Forme,4 stool softeners, every night,no exceptions seems to work. If I don't poop on any given. Day I add a dose ofmiralax to the stool softeners that night. If that doesn't work I add two laxative tablets to the other two the next night. THis usually works cause believe you me, I do not want toget constipated...been there and done that and had to dig my own poo out to fix it,and totally don't want to go there again. It hurts and totally ruins my manicure,:(.

My doctor said to take ground flaxseed or psyllium in my food or smoothies to keep me regular. If I forget, I'll take a tablespoon of flaxseed oil or mineral oil. Good luck.

My heart goes out to you. I had a bowel obstruction a few years back and suffer with constipation to the point where I literally get backed up from my rectum to my stomach. I've had to go to emerg several times with this and lucky for me the staff have been exceptional. Now mind you once you have a bowel obstruction you are at higher risk for another one so it's important I listen to my body. All those daily pills don't work for me but my specialist stated that when I'm back up to that I have to do a rectal enema (fleet) and then after having a movement I have to do an oral enema like Pico Salax or Fleet. It usual takes anywhere from 8-12 hours for them to work on me even though the package said bowel movements within 30 minute to 3 hours.

I have been recommended to add the Mutamucil clear to my water daily or also physullm husk to foods, it's actually get's pretty thick so I can only add it to my oatmeal. Try visiting your natural health food store as they have non medical natural products that help you go. Also remember we absorb things differently so we may have to increase the dosage of what we take.

I hope you get this resolved soon and feel like your ol'self.

Kee.

Hi!  Do happen to know anyone who uses doTerra Essential oils?  They have a blend called DigestZen, which is a life saver for digestive issues, including constipation.  It's a more natural remedy that doesn't have some of the more "unpleasant" side effects of the OTC stool softeners.  In addition, adding lemon oil to your water every day helps the cleansing/detoxifying process.

I'm not trying to sell you anything, but I've personally used this on myself and my husband and it's helped tremendously.  I haven't had sleeve surgery yet, (this Friday is my surgery date).   If you have any questions, feel free to email me [email protected] - Tiffany
