Are you allowed to be eating solid foods already? If not, then having grapefruit is ill advised. It is important to follow your physician's plan for many reasons, but your physical safety is the primary reason. You're only two weeks out with a staple line that has yet to heal completely.

I'm 3 weeks out, and am only allowed pureed foods with no citrus at all. Follow your doctors plan, as your suture line hasn't healed. Your doctor has your best interest at heart

I'm 10 days out and struggling with the protein too, but I think you need to be really careful right now. Our stomachs are still healing and I think that kind of fruit in particular is very difficult to digest. Can you have some Greek yogurt  to get some extra protein in? This is the worst part. I have been nursing a premier protein shake for 3 hours! Good luck to you.

It's bad not to stick to your plan, especially when you're healing.  And I'm pretty sure that shakes haven't been the death of anyone.
