Energy Levels

Hi, Sleevers!

My surgery was last Monday.  POD3 I was able to walk with my dog and I've continued that, working up to our regular route of a mile.

Other than that, I don't have much energy at ALL. What was it like for everyone postop? When did you get back your energy?

(yes, I was the girl who posted that I vacuumed three days after surgery...that must have been adrenaline! ☺️)

My surgery was last Tuesday.   My mind has lots of energy and I want to do many things, but physically I just cannot.   Very tired after getting up and doing small things.  Patience is key I guess.

Jody, I think you're right. And I'm not good with patience! :)

If you're still taking pain and anti-nausea meds that can make you sleepy too!

I was very lucky with both those things - I didn't need them after the hospital. I haven't filled the prescriptions!  I know that's probably not normal.  Like I said, I think I was very lucky.

You just had MAJOR surgery. Let your body heal. Rest when it tells you to rest. It took me about three months until got most of my energy back. This will drive you crazy for some time. It will pass. Be patient and try not to overdo it too soon. Good Luck.

Thanks, Bob.  Patience is not my strong suit!  But I'm working on it!

My husband asked my surgeon last week how soon can I go back to work! The doctor looked at my husband and said, "your wife will look great after surgery, but will be very tired. Its all about healing. I want her to take 4 weeks off from any kind of work." Hang in there, energy is coming for you soon!

Luvmygs, your doctor sounds like a good one!

Of course you don't have energy!  You had surgery, what, 8 days ago?  Let yourself heal.  Rest, relax, walk, and be kind to yourself.  :)  I was feeling good enough to go out to see a movie at about 2 weeks.  And good enough for everything else by the end of week 3.
